My issue with Lupe is that he can be too dense at times. I’m not a fan of word puzzle rap or overly complicated lyrics.
That being said, I liked Lupe’s rapping on that album.
The production on T&Y wasn’t that good to me. That was the problem.
What do you think is a really dope beat on that album? I remember thinking Little Death was a standout.

Chopper
Mural
Tron
Body of work
Adoration of magi

I could go on breh

Sure it wasn’t 90’s produced but as a project the beats were excellent imo

He isnt like Nas or Jay if we being honest.

Meh, I'll stand by the specific lyricism comparison. There is no "second coming of Nas" in my opinion but I'm just saying Kendrick is similar in certain writing aspects (evocative lyricism and introspection).

Who's "we" no rationale Lu fan says that. If your referring to Stan's that's the typing stuff you get From them. no different than Ti, Wayne, and Jeezy stans who say the same for them. But i dont see yall pushing back as hard against those groups as yall do Lu's
Ok. So where do you actually see Lupe all time?
And please tag me in any of these threads regarding TI, Jeezy or Wayne being top ten and I will put on a marquee performance :prodigylol:
Also, Lupe > Wayne, TI and Jeezy.

There’s no universe where Ras Kass & Big L are better lyricists than Lupe. :camby:

We can go bar for bar. Lupe used to rap the fly street shyt better than Big L did back in 2001-2005 and that’s with all due respect :hubie:

Lupe dropped 2 albums on his first try better than Soul On Ice... F&L retail and the leaked version y’all stop playin :pachaha:
So Ras Kass and Big L aren’t elite tier rappers with disappointing discographies?

Ain’t no nikka from De La Soul a better rapper than Lupe :pachaha:, @mobbinfms just keep it a stack and say u don’t like Lupe
All due respect, you probably too young to realize that Posdnous was considered an elite lyricist in the 90s, when hip hop was at its peak.

I like Lupe. I just accurately rate him and that’s seems to infuriate people

Tip hasn't had a good album since Urban legend :hubie:
If we taking 2000s,
I’d put Little Brother, Murs, Doom and Sean Price over Lupe.
Game is arguable from a discography standpoint.
2010s?
Roc Marciano
Freddie Gibbs
Kendrick.

I’m not gonna argue any of the 2000s guys though
Ya’ll could have that. :prodigylol2:
Doom and Sean Price ain’t 2000s guys though :peeumad:

Elite tier for their day but they’re not fukking with Lupe at his best. Big L’s gift was hardcore street tales, battle rap punchline king type style.

Give me Big L’s best track where he lyrically ripped it to you & I’ll give you a Lupe song that’s lyrically more proficient. And that’s all due respect to that legend :hubie:

I’m not talking no cryptic, puzzle rhyme shyt either. I’ll give you a Westside, Madison Ave Lupe track that’s lyrically better than L

Give me you’re favorite Ras Kass song lyrically and I’ll give you a conscious Lupe record that lyrically usurps it :sas2:

Wayne has to be over Lupe lmao, Wayne is in most peoples top 20 at the very least. TIP is over Lupe, these Lupe stans saying a nikka who started a whole sub genre in hip hop hasn’t had a good album since 04 (which is not true):russ: TIP has 4 different albums that people legitimately argue as classics. Games got more memorable music than Lupe, so I’m putting him over as well :mjlit: Ross albums are better than Lupes too:mjlit: .. BET did a whole list of the top rappers of the 00s and Lupes name was nowhere to be found on that list :russ:

BRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKLLLLLYYYYYNNNN
come on fam

Honestly I think Kendrick is closer to some of the best Nas attributes than anyone. Both have a knack for vivid, evocative lyricism and introspection. That's what I think of when I think of Nas at his best. Project window prophet watching the world turn on its axis. Whereas Hov and Kendrick are completely different rappers.
I agree. That was a stupid analysis on my part.

Nas, Kendrick, Lupe are my favorite rappers.

lupe mad convoluted in his rhymes and same with kendrick

they the definition of doing too much, Nas comes across with the message with ease and not make it so u have to listen to the track 100 times to get the message.

On my life, right before this part, when Nore asked Nas was Dave East the new Nas or some shyt, I was sitting there listening, thinking to myself like, "nah.. the lineage really goes Rakim, Nas, Lupe..."

A couple minutes later when Nore asked Nas who was the emcee that he thought reminded him of himself and when he listened to their shyt he was overtly impressed, and Nas actually said Lupe, I had to pause the vid on some straight :krs: :obama::jawalrus::wow:

Shout to Nas for keepin it 100

People saying Lupe is wack should stick to trash like bababy, future, migos.

Lupe has one of the best discographies in hiphop. 1st and 15 is a classic, the cool is a classic, tetso and youth is so close to being a classic, drogas wave is probably the best album I’ve heard in about 5yrs. And I’m not even including his classic mixtapes.

And please don’t compare j cole to lupe, he shyts on lupe in every category, lyrics, storytelling, albums. People completely forget for such a good mc cole is, he’s dropped numerous trash albums. His best forest hills drive can’t fukk with either of the 4 lupe albums.

I agree with this but discographies shouldn't be a part of the convo.

Nore was asking Nas about emcee skills and he accurately named Lupe as the next evolution.

I think the problem some people have with that is the fact that Lupe didn't make traditional NYC backpack hip hop, so they don't want to include him in that lineage even though he's obviously a god level emcee.
