I was a Lupe fan, but he lost me at some point. I still think his best work is the og Food & Liquor that leaked. The retail version is great too and IMO the closest he came to a classic. The Cool was dope, but was all over the place for it to be a concept record. Things unraveled with his third album, which sounded like it was going to be an excellent 3 CD set, but that idea was canceled and we got Lasers. F&L 2 was cool and the album he put out on 2015 was crazy. I checked the latest one, but didn't like it as much.
Lyrically, he reminds me of Nas. I think his stans are taking the compliment too far though. In terms of influence, there's really nothing about him that couldn't be attributed to Pharrell or Kanye.
