So in the 90's in NY (and maybe other cities) there were car services called OJ's wherein you could smoke, drink etc. Like a private livery cab where the driver was cool and would charge a little bit more for driving you around while you chilled with a few friends. I got in one twice in the 9th grade with these girls from my HS I met. Fun memories.

You are beyond the man for this insight. Thank you!

What's a "livery cab" tho?
Thanks again

Hahahah spoken like one of the true “stuck in the 90’s n*ggas”.

believe me fam I felt the same way. Off first listen.

but after multiple listens, I gave in. You gotta agree at the very least, if one of the old school legends is gonna rap over the “n*ggaz in paris” producer’s beats, this is the way to do it. Nas was still spittin knowledge. The 90’s ain’t ever coming back so let’s let em live and appreciate one of our legends still doing it in 2020.
I guess you missed my 20 other posts heaping praise on this phenomenal album.

I mos def fukk with the album and I’ll cop the vinyl when it comes to Amazon.
I just don’t like the 27 Summers beat and Durk’s verse was trash.

"You got pressed in the hood, fix your jibs up" -- from the intro. Some are saying on twitter this line is a shot at Joe Budden for his podcast continually downplaying NAS and slobbing Jay.

What you think?

Idk if it's a shot. But if it is, I'm with it. All of em on that podcast continually shyt on everything Nas does, while Jay and Diddy can do whatever they want without critique. It's a shytty platform that is slowly losing its entertainment value

looking at the tracklist probably had same thoughts like others wondering about "durk on here" but the song is really good.
the album has a really good vibe. u can tell like nas had a good time making this
I was put on to Durk by someone on the Coli, I always wondered how he got features and shyt on all the big guys tracks, now even legends tracks.
No label connection, not from the same city, not a big mover or anything. But dudes taught me that he's the pioneer of all these new guys like Lil Baby and them. Being a pioneer is still respected, that's dope.

Known who he is for like a decade but didnt listen to his shyt until this year and dude is nice

Sean’s verse was mid but nowhere near as bad as Durk.
  1. AZ/Mega (I cant call it)
  2. Ferg
  3. Dre (if it counts)
  4. Foxy
  5. Sean
  6. Fivio
  7. Durk

No way Durk should be at the very bottom. Dre’s verse really shouldn’t count lol and Foxy with all due in respect regarding her condition had the weakest verse and performance. I’m not saying he was spitting lyrical venom or anything but the imagery and poetry Durk displayed while evoking that emotion with the singing made it a better song. It was a good contrast but that’s just my opinion. I wouldn’t even put Durk in that mumble rap catagory because he actually saying something instead of just making random noises.

I was servin' out my mama crib, she ain't know about it
Complaining about my rent, but I know my mama got me
She told me to be a man, and never sleep through problems
University of the streets, I ain't plan on going to college
Why you crying 'bout low income and welfare?
You ain't the only one going through it, this everywhere
Better hold your head, I know it don't feel fair
Reason my people dead and they know I still care
Depending on the people, then you gotta do better
Black lives matter, I'm for real, it do matter
Black-on-black crime, they still do it to whoever
Talking to the trenches, we just gotta do better
He think he Martin Luther, but he tryna be a shooter
Got his car took, he ride with guns in the Uber
I'm talking where we from, we carry MACs, but no computers
He got out yesterday, but he went in when he was juvie

You gotta give him props for that Macs line...that was hard:wow:
