I never said I thought IWW was a commercial or a sellout album. It's the album that made me a big Nas fan. I was too young to catch Illmatic when it dropped.

I'm just saying that I've talked with a lot of older heads and people that were old enough to catch Illmatic and then IWW, that were either letdown on some level by IWW or knew people that were.

This is a fact. The critics specifically but a lot of people in general felt like Nas "sold out" with IWW. It's crazy now when you look back on it, even the lead single was some pure hip hop shyt, but that wasn't the sentiment back then. I remember my big brother and his friends fukking with the album but it wasn't like it was with Illmatic at all. In hindsight, IWW is damn near perfect too, , it just doesn't sound like Illmatic...which it shouldn't

and to add on if yall remember this nikka nas posted a video of him and fivi in the studio together like around february or march? can't remember... but you see he ain't just send a nikka a beat through email like gimme a verse nah.. he was there to direct the action and tell fivi exactly what the song was and what he wanted. that way it stayed true to his vision as opposed to some random feature

Low key Fivio should have taken it more seriously and gave him some bars. His verse sounded like a freestyle.

IMO, Nas used KoonYe hype to drop an album so he could get from under Def Jam contract..knowing he was releasing LT2 to seal the deal. Nasir was made over a 3 day weekend
