I don't think he misses opportunities to pick great beats. You pointed out what most have trouble with when it comes to Nas's beat selection: comparing what he's rhyming over to what the listener thinks he could/should be rhyming over.

The beats Fat Joe rhymes over works for Fat Joe. Nas doesn't necessarily "pick" beats off of a disc or a playlist. He actually builds with a producer and they create the songs together as opposed to him getting a beat and spitting on it.

If Nas works with Kanye or Just Blaze, guarantee it won't sound like what they did for any other artist. People look at the names and immediately go to their other work for reference. When they hear a Kanye joint or Just joint with Nas on it, they diss it because it doesn't sound like what they gave Game or Jay or whoever.

I was glad Parks played Get Down on the JBP sleeper picks and praised the album. Even Heaven was an excellent beat.

son hit boy was a great choice on the part of nas who like me, i'm sure was tried of that he don't know how to pick beats narrative. nah, nas has always moved to the beat of his own drummer and choice sonic landscapes that served the story and not the other way around. nothing quick or gimmicky unless the intention was the few "let's hit urban radio with this one" tracks that we all familiar with

hit boy gave him the kind of crack that was palpable to the masses but still nas and he was in his duffel b. i knew it once i heard the ultra black concept record that this was gonna hit different. ye wasn't a horrible choice like nikkas say he was but it was uninspired ye and a little too far left for nas. if they gave us nasir album with them two nikkas in 2006 oh lord it would have dubbed everything out that year. but last legs psychotropic meds yeezy? no hate for the brother and his illness but nah duke

i'm just trying to figure out how esco been out the hood so long and still sounds connected to the streets. he blacked on everything but blue benz and car #85 is where his pen ain't really make sense lol. i'm about to take it to high school and rewind over and over mumbling until i know his shyt by heart. i'm also shocked that he worked so well with fivi and durk which shows that he had a clear vision for them joints and he just wasn't trying to pander to the younger demographic by throwing some random young popular nikkas on

Saying nas picks bad beats with that heavy catalog of his is highly illogical.

Now if someone says "I don't like nas beats" that's a totally different statement. I can rock with that.

Because I know a lot of people prefer beats that have more energy. Head nodding Makes your body want to move type shyt. And there's nothing wrong with that

An aside, 2pac(goat status) first three albums was never known for their beats. But nobody ever says shyt
