Just listening again and Nas rhyme schemes still A+. Nas gets boxed in by lot of people weirdly as more a poetic guy and don’t really talk about how good he is technically while they wax lyrical about other rappers technical skill. But breh still a monster from a technical standpoint. As Lupe said after reacting to Nobody, rappers could base a whole career and flow off just one of the rhyme schemes/ flows on that

I tried telling my boys hitboy can give you anything and they were still talking about “ we need a preemo “ type beat or album. Then when wave god came out, ppl jump straight to that track and they were talking about “ this is the best track, this the preemo beat Nas needs n hit boy can’t do that“ etc etc.

Just come to find out hitboy produced the whole song and it’s just preemo scratches and you’ll be a fool to think hitboy can’t give you those same scratches lol.

On the credits, both are credited for making the beat now.

good album overall and you can tell as time has went on since collabing with Hit...he's (Nas) gotten more comfortable and was spitting at a great level on this one.

However, I do share some of the criticisms of Hit's production where after awhile, it can kind of feel like it all blends together...for me the best beat he has created for Nas is The Cure which still stands out as the best track this duo has created. Magic is a top release of the year no doubt but there are other albums I got as better or who have better highs/standout tracks.

there's been a recent trend of artists writing "featuring DJ Premier" when it's the scratches, and it kind of annoys me because it implies to a lot of people that he produced the joint. Which makes total sense. It seems a bit misleading to me.

Eminem did it on his last album, and I believe either Game or Dre did it recently too. Run The Jewels did it recently also.

I've always thought Jay Elec sounds more like Killah Priest than anyone else, but I understand the Nas comparisons too.

This is the best project Nas and Hit-Boy have done together so far too and also Nas’ best album in quite some time, very dope.
