The only song I don't like is "Cops Shot the Kid," but this was always a nice little EP. I had a lot of fun listening to it when it came out and there are a few genuinely great songs ("Adam and Eve," "Everything").

Kanye just wasn't in a place to give Nas his best work and didn't take it seriously. It was the first album after Life is Good, so the expectations were high and.........this was what we got. This album already looks bad next to Nas' earlier projects, but when you compare it to the Hit-Boy albums and (presumably) the Premier album, it will probably get erased from Nas' history altogether. It's going to be a Jeopardy question if it already isn't.

"This Chicago-based producer forced Nas to write songs in a car while he made beats for an album that was delayed and edited to make Nas sound off-beat."

"Who is Kanye West?"

"Correct."

It won’t be erased. Music is forever. But I think this album will definitely go down in history as an example of being careful what you wish for. Damn near everybody thought Kanye capable of making better music with Nas than Salaam Remi, No I.D, Will I Am, Stargate, etc.

He wasn’t. And maybe he never was.

It's just going to be one of those albums that nobody talks about. The current run that Nas is on this decade has made it more and more irrelevant. If this album was going to happen when it should have, then you're talking about ten years earlier, when everything Kanye did worked.

Salaam doesn't get nearly enough credit. Some of the hardest songs in Nas' catalog came from him. "Nazareth Savage," "Street's Disciple," and "Thief's Theme" all made by him on the same album. :damn:

I still rock with "Bonjour.":manny:

OAN, had Apple Music on shuffle while working out and "It Ain't Hard to Tell" came on. 30+ yrs later and that song (whole album) still amazes me that this nikka was 16 when he started writing this joint. The mf Hip-Hop Oracle.

I actually enjoyed the song shot the kid and still listen. I thought the song with weekend could have been a classic single but was missing something to elevate it but I thought it was a good track. The rest…. :francis:
