This thread is embarrassing on multiple levels and it being sticky'd says a lot. Casinos are bad. They siphon money from working people, and they do more harm to black people. Celebrating this because your favorite rapper or celebrity is involved is just odd to me. I said this in the Hov casino thread, I said it in the Nas casino thread....I don't respect this on any level. This has nothing to do with being anti-capitalist or Marxist. I'm not anti capital, I'm not against owning businesses or making money. I just don't fukk with making money off exploiting poor or working class people, including a lot of black people. There are no community benefits to this. Don't let them fool you.

Also the weird Jay attacks. What are we doing. I remember the SOHH days when dudes would outright dismiss or ignore Jay's obvious advantage on business deals/money/etc because that shyt has nothing to do with rap. But now that Nas got his finances together and has some level of involvement in a casino brehs wanna flip and talk shyt about Jay's business in relation to Nas'? When do we grow up. Jay is a billionaire. Nas is not a billionaire. And guess what...who fukking cares. This has no bearing on any of our lives. This isn't sports or something lol.

:hubie:

nikkas gonna be mad but whatever, I just don't fukk with this s

As I stated above the whole irony of Jay fans making up that made up won the war scenario is what is making this funny. You can use 95% of topics not correlating our daily lives but we discuss them anyway. You brought up the weird hate against Jay but ignore that no mc has had more narratives against them Nas.

Who gamble more? Poor working class blacks or regular ass white people? I'm confused. If nikkas feel this way they must literally HATE Vegas. Native Americans are EXTREMELY big on casinos to the point they are legal for them to build even in states where gambling is illegal. This Casino is not in the hood. This Casino is not even residential. And it was ALREADY there. Anyone who goes to a casino like this is using their free will to do so. There's literal gambling on ur phone. People play the lotta every morning when they get up outta bed. I can see if this shyt was gentrifying a community or some shyt like that but the outrage is unwarranted af. My grandfather bet on the horses his whole life. He's ok. Lol. Asians are big AF on gambling and casinos as well.

If you ever bought lotto tickets, or gambled on sports, but in here trying to play Mr Sanctimonious, you're being very fraudulent.

It's weird how many adults don't know that Casinos are a big part of the tourism business. Their target audience is not the married father of 3 who's going to stop on his way home on Friday and gamble away half his paycheck 🤦‍♂️

Furthermore, the point some people are missing is that now Queens NY is able to attract some of that tourism money Manhattan have had in a choke hold for the longest when it comes to visiting NY City.

There's more in play here than just Casino n Gambling

Some black people are so stupid when it comes to not coming at each other unnecessarily in public. Dude burned a bridge with someone much more powerful in business and entertainment that looks like him for a few comments. What an idiot.

He’s a politician I doubt he cares about that bridge

Above the fray.

.

Respect your opinion, but completely disagree .
Casinos and resorts employ a LOT of people, and when some of them closed in Atlantic City , NJ the economic impact was felt right away.

This deal in OP gives the existing site in Queens the greenlight to expand and build lodging/entertainment venues. Just like Vegas, where a large percentage of the city economy is based on tourism/gambling/resorts.

Im from a poor/working class city and the state lottery/scratch cards were/are generally the ways that people from this segment gamble, not traveling to casinos.
(..maybe the illegal floating gambling spot, but not to casinos)

The resort in OP may have some customers from that background, but at that scale, they are clearly marketed to middle class people who live in the metro area and to tourists.
The same people who would go to AC , Vegas, or the Native American owned spots across the country. People with the time and disposable income for those types of vacations/stay-cations.

With gambling being legal now and online accessible, people are going to these physical venues as much for entertainment as anything. So the bid to expand into resorts makes sense.
And the community benefits will be the jobs and opportunities created by the project, many of which will be earmarked for local residents.
