He dropped Ultra Black as the lead single a week before the album release.

The thing is Nas is still a presence within the mainstream consciousness. He’s number 1 on iTunes, Amazon Music, and Google Music and number 2 on Apple Music so its not as if he’s making no noise

If you're not on hip hop twitter or youtube like that I dont know how many people even know of the album, its not even gotten mainstream reviews yet

Its weird too because there's a lot here that might have worked on a major label with a push

Even when he was on a major its not like he ever really pushed what would be considered a commercial single. In the past decade or so his most commercial friendly single was Cherry Wine.

True but there was still this build up with singles. I mean this is interesting time of him being fully independent. He can do what he wants. He probably not gonna make the first video for months like he did with Nasir and LT 2. But its also weird, cause you know the album is dope and theres a part of me that wants people to know about it.

How do those numbers even make sense? Tim McGraw hasn't come close to topping album sales charts on iTunes/Amazon/Google but is expected to sell more than Nas? Nas has been battling the Killers but has been ahead of them almost this entire time but they are expected to more than double his sales? What am I missing here?

And it'll be sad if Nas does have the most actual album sales but doesn't get number one because older albums were streamed much more. Times have definitely changed. Regardless I'm glad he's gotten the response he has to the album and that it's seems to energize him to keep the momentum going with new music.

Yea the shyt makes no sense to me either. I don’t get how they are factoring this. But. If they on a major. U know how that go. The label could finesse some shyt for sure.

Tim McGraw fans probably still go to Wal-Mart to buy physical CDs

Nas is long beyond a 1st week number anyway IDK why folks are tripping off this.
