jay-z is more witty with the wordplay, thats really the only thing I give jay-z over nas, no hate. and just to be fair i don't know if its right to give him that since Nas don't even really care about incorporating that into his artistry. oh, and jay-z is better at making club music, which isn't as easy as it lookks, i give him that too. but to me Nas is the greatest ever by a whole lot, a whooole lot. i got jay-z in the top 5 tho, no doubt. oh and i'll take nas's discography over homies too, even though they both got multiple joints i dont like at all

jay-z is miles ahead nas lyrically in terms of cleverness in metaphors wordplay
punchlines. and jay also has better rhyme schemes also jay is not a cat and hat type rhymer.
and nas does put metaphors and wordplay in his lyrics it's just a not better then jay with them.
