Mike the Executioner
What went on up there? Poppers and weird sex!
To be fair, that's what all artists say when they flop or see that they're about to.
Albums cost loads of money to make and any artist, independent or major or even a record label, are going to want to have good sales predictions as that's one of the ways they can make a return on their investment.
Nas is a venture capitalist who tours constantly and Premier also tours constantly in addition to owning his publishing. Neither of them are hurting for money or care what they sell at this point in their careers.
Nas is also smart enough to know that the average consumer for an album like this is around his age and probably doesn't stream anything. They buy the albums. And those vinyls probably aren't cheap to make, but I'm sure they're turning a profit with how much they cost. Magic came out with no warning on Christmas Eve. Magic 2 and 3 were barely promoted, if at all. Even with this album, the only promo was the Joe Budden interview. If money and sales mattered that much, an album like this wouldn't exist.
What Dre and Snoop did for Missionary is an example of two people doing everything they can to promote an album and get people to listen.

if Nas hadn’t dropped an album since then it was going to do huge numbers
