Teams don't play guys as many minutes as they did back then (Lebron led the league at less than 37 MPG and that wouldn't have even cracked the top 30 in '06) and part of the reason for the faster pace is because there's more talent than there was in '06.

Slower pace usually indicates more scoring opportunities for superstar caliber players because the offense typically revolves around them iso'ing more. MJ, LeBron, Kobe, AI, Carmelo, etc. all had their biggest scoring seasons while playing on some of the slowest teams in the league.

A 27 yr old Kobe avgs 40 min in 2018

This is why thecoli.com got the world's dumbest nikkas. In what world is Terry Porter anywhere near Lowry?

Hes mad cuz Bron gone and now the Raptors are gonna whoop them 4 times a year.... Terry Porter >>> Lowry is laughable unless @Bigblackted4 his nephew...

The guy was second team all NBA that year...

That take made no sense to me...

Lowry is a better shooter, better ballhandler, and much better defender than Porter ever was.

Derozan and Drexler have totally different games. Drexler was more athletic, but Derozan had a better midrange shot and could actually dribble with his left and handle the ball without looking at the ground.

Toronto has three-point shooters, Portland didn't. Toronto has rim protectors, Portland didn't. Toronto has a deep bench, Portland didn't.

And Toronto plays in a smart, disciplined halfcourt offense...while the Blazers mostly tried to run the court and were famous for collapsing under pressure in the halfcourt.

And even after all that...Portland was by far the best team in the West from 1990-1992. While Toronto has only one year where they even won a single game after the 1st round, and that year they were knocked out of the ECF decisively. And this is the "weak" East, right?

Just makes no sense to compare them at all.

No. Shaq left the year before and Kobe was terrible in his first season without shaq. He didn't put up much in the way of points, he got injured, the lakers were in the playoff picture, then kobe came back, started ballhogging, and the lakers lost most of their games to miss the playoffs.

He was talking about the 04-05 season

They just got beat in the Finals in the '04 finals which prompted shaqs departure, so the 04-05 season was kobe's first :manny:

I thought the rule change was actually in effect starting 2005-2006 :manny:

Damn did people even watch the video before running to come defend they agendas :what:
Kobe was a multi time allstar, won most of his rings, and was damn near a HOF lock during the hand checking era
Mentioned him because the jump to 35ppg right after the new rules is an obvious example of him likely exploiting the changes like he was supposed to do

And the video touches on the original 1994 change but obviously it wasn't enough since anybody watching back then knows they were still hand checking and then felt the need to further define and enforce the rule in 04/05

No way you can watch tape of old games and act like there is no difference, you could literally guide players off their path in the hand checking era. Also remember the illegal defense rule was added in the early 2000s so in the hand checking era you could also camp in the lane. THE shyt WAS HARDER :why:

But you couldn’t double team off the ball back in the day. Illegal defense allowed AI & Jordan iso ball, lol. Hard double team or not at all.

Allowing zone was the biggest game changer. It cut down on iso ball and it forces cross court passes to beat the man/zone hybrid.

Jordan still got his in with the wizards in the zone defense era. He was old with busted knees and still got buckets. On his healthy days 02-03 he could drop 40.

Old rules 40yr old Jordan would have looked better with illegal defense being called.

Physical defense still exists. :stopitslime: Steph get held by every defenders that guards him. Put Steph in era with no zone and he will average 35 points per game.

Perhaps, but you would have better man defenders on the court instead of hiding people in zone. You could bring back defensive specialist cause you wouldn’t need all 5 guys to score or be good passers as you can iso with ya best man scorer. A steph stopper could be on the floor at all times with illegal defense.

Talk to me when Lowry can put up

26.0 ppg 4.0 rag 8.3 ast per game on 54 52 85 shooting in a Confernce finals and win that series. Against Stockton at his position.

Or

25.8 ppg 5.6 rebounds 8.4 assists on 54 41 81 shooting in a conference semifinal against a Kevin Johnson caliber player

Porter put up great numbers in both those series but so did Stockton and KJ and Blazers won both series because they were a much better team in '92 bruh...Clyde averaged 31 a game in that Utah series....If you noticed Porter's number dropped off signifigantly in the finals VS Bulls which of course you did which is why i dont see them here....

Difference is Lowry wasnt on the better team vs Cavs in his prime (2016)

I went back and looked at Porter's career stats and theyre actually better than what i thought they'd be,that being said Lowry's best seasons are much better in every way including advanced data :yeshrug:

JUS SPEAKIN FACTS

Look I know you hate Bron for whatever reasons may be, but what you saying is simply false

The two lowest scoring seasons since 1955 were the 99 and 04 season

Lebron was 18 years old in 04 and put up 21 a night
This is Bron before the 3, before the back to the basket game, before the turnaround jumper

Bron is a top 5 scorer all time and would wreck any era
