Last Words ain’t redeemable? And u ever been to a concert when Nas drops You Owe Me? Matter fact look at the crowd reaction when Tim dropped it during Versuz. That right there should tell u what u need to know.

I said the album itself isn't redeemable. "Last Words" is cool and I already acknowledged liking "You Owe Me". That said, I don't consider either song an essential Nas track even though "You Owe Me" is a single that did well and still gets great reception.

It’s an essential Nas track because it still gets people excited 20 years later fam. Lol

But it's not a song that if he excluded from his set that is going to be missed. If he doesn't do "One Mic" or "Made You Look" or "NY State of Mind", those are glaring omissions.

It's a Nas album and every Nas album has gems. The problem is it kinda fizzles out at the end. I like You Owe Me, but its not a closing song. Last Words probably should have been the closer.

Hmmm I don't know about that. Last time I saw Nas live he didn't perform One Mic and I literally didn't notice until I read your post. Like, if he didn't do the joints you listed, but did Street Dreams, Nas Is Like and Hate Me Now instead, I don't think his fans would be disappointed like that.

came out before my time to a degree but I think part of the problem with this album looking back was the aesthetic and 'brand' just seemed off with Nas for this album.

as someone else said the vibe jus came off as dated and corny with Nas with the Nastradamus and Owe Me vids. Like the whole vibe just didn't suit Nas and the vids look almost like parody's of the vids of that era

That's just me looking back as someone who only properly got into hip hop ironically with Stillmatic in 2001

Nothing to force

Even the single was hard
I still bang in the whip with the top down

that hook is still :scust:

Can you imagine how the recording must have went down?

*L.E.S. plays Nastradamus instrumental for Nas*

Nas: That beat is banging! :krs:

L.E.S.: :obama: Do your thing Nasty

*Nas pulls out notebook & pen*

20 minutes later...

Nas: Nasty Nas the Esco to Esco-bar/
now he is Nastradaaamus

L.E.S.: :wtf:

Nas: Ayo L.E.S. this single will be bigger than If I ruled the world & Hate me now combined. Nastradamus bout to go triple plat :ahh:

L.E.S. (thinking to himself): Shoulda gave the beat to Will Smith instead :snoop:

On Nas 4th album he had the song Come Get Me

On Hovs 4th album he had the song Come and Get Me

:jbhmm:
You just realized one of their first barbs at each other. Memphis Bleek kind of started it. "Memphis Bleek Is..." was sort of rip off of "Nas is Like". Then Nas responds to Memphis Bleek's line ""My whole team rock rocks, we don't speak to cats/I'mma ball till I fall what you think of that?"" with "You wanna ball till you fall, I can help you with that/You want beef? I could let a slug melt in your hat."

Only tracks I ain't care for on there was Quiet nikkas, and Big Girl (one of his WOAT tracks :snoop:), You Owe Me was cool for the time. Life We Chose, Project Windows, Come Get Me, Family and Last Words was vintage Esco. Nastradamus, God Love Us and New World was cool, Some Of Us Have Angels and Shoot 'Em Up was fire to me :yeshrug:.

So outta the 13 songs on there I didn't fukk with 2 at all, 4 were just OK to me, 7 were either dope as fukk or classic Nas. If he took off Nastradamus, Big Girl and Quiet nikkas, made Come Get Me the lead single and then You Owe Me, I dont think nikkas would of went in on the album like that. But son made it in 6 months instead of giving us the rest of I Am, so:manny:

Depends on the fan. Nas concerts have a shyt ton of women and best believe they want to hear You Owe Me more than NY State Of Mind. You need tracks like that to have the type of career Nas has. Hov clowned that shyt as well as Oochie Wally but both were hit records. And they still ring off at concerts. I'mt not a fan of either but you can't deny the popularity.

I remember buying this in Target in December 1999, for "You Owe Me", I lived this era as a 13 year old, and it was hot at the time, but not like "I Am", with the tour de force "Hate Me Now"

Nastradamus had it's small moment though, but everyone at the time, critics included, noticed the lyrics were a step down, and the production bland, and uninspired, with a few standouts.

Nah, yall need to stop trying to revise history, Nastradamus was and always will be TRASH. Project Windows and Come Get Me were the only dope tracks.
