Yep can't forget about that stipend. Did they recently change it cause I thought you could get the full amount if you did online as well. Cause I was going to class fulltime online and I was still getting over $1k a month.
From what I've read it's still 50% . Just depends on where you live I guess. You can get the full rate if you take 1 class at a school while doing online

Yea I used my shyt a few years ago and they didn't differentiate between going into the class or online. I guess with the pandemic they switched it up a bit.

Don't forget you also get a monthly stipend if you go full time at a brick & mortar school or half if you only do online classes. I think the rate is equal to E5 w/ dependants in the zip code where the school is located... I used it to to get my bachelor's and also went and got my CDL . I still got about 10 months left, might go learn to fly a plane lol
Do you get disability? and How soon do you get your disability checks after ETS?

Isn't service a pathway to citizenship? I remember hearing about alot of carribean and central/south americans joining up to get citizenship. Is this not true?
It is. There's so many Chinese and Jamaican people in the Navy lol.

It's about 10-20 Jamaicans and around 80 Chinese people on my ship of 1,000.

Matter of fact, Filipino people make up around half of that 1,000:pachaha:

You have interesting stories of your time served, what is the downside of old heads enlisting?
you can already see the pride thing hopping up in the thread - some guys just can't get over the fact that they're pushing the high side of 30 and not having anything to say because they have *zero* experience or time served so their opinions mean little outside of housekeeping.

they also have a hard time dealing with "everybody is getting punished because one of yal was stupid" stuff that comes with the first few years enlistment

also older guys have a much shorter rope to be idiots with because everyone expects them to have a degree more common sense than most. there's *nothing* worse than being old, dumb, and not being able to follow simple instructions in the military. and although the physical requirements are waaay lower.... if you're a sloppy fat gremlin, you'll hear about it every single hour of every day.

so basically if you got your shyt together mentally, want to actually improve yourself/your situation, and aren't clinging to your ego like a jackass while making a desperate last shot to get your life back on track, its not even that big of a deal :manny:
