NBA 2017 Summer League Thread

Nah man. Harrison Barnes cannot create his own shot like Tatum. Not even close. Dude his a catch and shoot player with the occasional straight line drive. No footwork, no moves, no shiftiness, no ball handling.

And Tatum can pass the ball. He's a really good play maker in transition and always has been. He gets tunnel vision at times in the half court, because he sees himself as the best scoring option on the floor at all times. Similar to Kobe in that sense.

Barnes can create his own shot, did you watch any Mavs game? He's a legit scorer.

What speed in the open floor? He dunked once in an open lane and guys backed off him since the game was over. Hart is more explosive than Lonzo in the open floor.

Ball didn't drive as much as he should have today for the amount of usage he had whenever he was on the floor. And when he did drive he was either stopped or couldn't finish. One highlight doesn't change this fact. Injury has nothing to do with Ball's lack of speed or quickness. His lack thereof is why his defense will likely never be that good for his size and why he can't take guys off the dribble, finish well, etc. If Ball was actually fast he would have more time to finish at the rim and would finish.

Most people's criticisms of Ball coming from UCLA have turned out correct.

Ball scored like 9 points. About how many scoring highlights do you think he had? The criticisms of Lonzo coming out of UCLA are that 1), his shot wouldn't translate to the NBA (so far confirmed); 2) he doesn't drive because he lacks ability to finish (so far confirmed); 3) his defense is overrated and UCLA hides him (his D has been OK not great); 4) he lacks the quickness, handles and speed to take guys off the dribble and drive (so far confirmed as far as taking guys off the dribble, sort of confirmed about the drive).

Have you seen any Mavs games?

Not even close to the same stratosphere as Tatum. The Mavs didn't have much offense, one of the worst offensive teams in the league and he was a 19 point scorer as a first option. Dude does not have the offensive talent as Tatum at all. Jeff Green in Boston after the Big 3 was traded type numbers.
