He was not very good. Russ raw stats have y’all fooled. All his ‘lytics show he is on the steep decline. He shot 26% from 3 and averaged 4.5 TO’s. He had some of the lowest PER, win shares, box plus minus, and value over replacement of his career. He was below average on the defensive end with a high foul rate. This nikka is a mental midget in the clutch.
He didn’t even get going until the Rockets started playing P.J. at the 5 which opened up driving angles for him. I’d put Kyle Lowry on the team before him.
Russ is trash now he monopolizes possessions to a high statline with his motor and athleticism but he’s not a positive influence on the floor for his team. I’d take a bunch of PG’s for my team over Russ right now.

- He’s been a top 3 in turnovers most his entire careeR. That ain’t jsut happened this year. Him and Harden used to be 1 and 2
- He been a below average 3 pt shooters his entire career. In Houston his percentage went down but so did his attempts
- His defense has always been underwhelming.
- You don’t understand how advanced metrics works. It’s pointless to use VORP, PER and WINSHARES when a Player is goin to a new situation where his role is being minimize. Paul George, Kemba Walker, KP, even LEBRIN fukkING JAMES, had their lowest Per and VORP of the last 5 years. Because, just like Russ, they fell back into minimize roles The. What they been used to for their career. You can’t just blindly look at advanced metrics in a general sense without any Context to try to prove your pointless point

I’ve actually been wondering what the coli thinks of Russ’ status these days...one of the prominent nerds on one of these podcasts I listen to said Westbrook isn’t even a top 40 player in the league right now, just yesterday...talking bout he’s gotten calls from league execs saying they’d rather have Rondo than Westbrook ..then he’s announced as All NBA today lol ...I see those types going all in and getting Russ Melo’d starting next season
