NBA on average is probably filled with the smartest players on average, and I don't mean that as a knock to MLB and NFL players, I just think the mentality to be an NBA brings in a different breed.

Basketball players set the template for success outside of sports, not saying football players aren't smart but you don't have a huge list of NFL players who have the business acumen of guys like
Bill Bradley
Lebron James
Magic Johnson
Michael Jordan
Shaq
Kobe Bryant
and I could go on and on.
Also because of the global nature of basketball it almost forces you to be more worldly. There are a lot of players who speak two or more languages and have been all over.
Again I'm not saying there aren't smart NFL players or baseball players but basketball even at it's base level stimulates, different parts of the brain than other sports and this coming from a football first guy.
What NBA players have done with their money is commendable. From Kobe Bryant (RIP) and James Harden investing in Body armour, to Andre Igudola tech investments the NBA players are killing it intelligence wise.
