Dont confuse being famous with being smart. Not saying the players you listed are not smart because they are but the reason basketball players have more business avenues open to them has more to do with their celebrity and the fact they are easily recognizable. Football players dont have that advantage. You would be better off giving random players as examples and not legends.

Spencer Dinwiddie
Chauncy Billups
George Tinsley
Dave Bing
Jamal Mashburn

Don't get me wrong these were successful players too in their own right but not as recognizable to say the casual fan, and there are others not listed others can come up with.

Word Chris Bosh, Pau Gasol who I think was on his way to becoming a doctor before the league. Brown is easily the most pretentious player in the nba.

spencer dinwiddie had a scholarship to Harvard

shaq has his mba and is on the board of directors of papa john

Festus ezeli was offered a scholarship from Harvard but went to Vanderbilt and majored in economics

Russell Westbrook has a gpa of 3.9 and was originally going to Stanford

tacko fall had a 4.0 gpa in high school majored in computer science scored in the 95th percentile on the sat and became fluent in 8 months

But it’s only jaylen who has to remind you in every interview

You think those contracts have something to do with intelligence and not more to do with how replaceable football players are? There’s 52 men on a roster and most of them don’t get into the league until they’re 22 and only have a finite amount of time to get as much money as possible and then they’re done by late 20’s. Basketball players come in at 18/19 and can play well into their mid 30’s. Then they have leagues overseas that will pay them millions of the NBA doesn’t want to. I think that has a lot more to do in those contract negotiations than “intelligence”. Also Lebron James has a lot of fukking power in the nba. Tom Brady by contrast doesn’t...his own team and coach is ready to kick him to the curb after giving them 6 Super Bowls

Pure nonsense, take this trash back to Reddit.

The reason you have a union is to collectively bargain for contractual terms. Doesnt matter how many players are on a team, the players can still bargain for more pay and rid themselves of slave contracts.

What the fukk do team numbers have to do with anything from the players side?

Where do you clowns get this retarded shyt

When the nba had a lockout where did JR Smith and Deron Williams and then go and play? They went overseas and still made millions. If the nfl has a lockout where are those players going to play?

:hubie: that doesn't negate the premise of locking out to begin.

I think Pau actually finished his studies and technically is a doctor. I could be wrong though. I know I saw images of him doing some intern work in Barcelona while he was with the Lakers.

Jaylen I went to cal and I think out of the box,

I think Kobe too had really good grades and basically could've gone to any university he wanted to regardless of basketball. We all know he spoke 2 languages and probably had good understanding of a third. Mutombo iirc came to Georgetown on a scholarship to become a doctor, had nothing to do with basketball initially. Bron you only have to see what he's doing in life to see how intelligent he is regardless of academics.

If they were smart they wouldn't have gotten caught up with those slave contracts...one reason why I always respected NBA players a bit more because the majority of them are about business and would never get themselves trapped in slave agreements cause they know their worth...NFL players indulge in c00nery mindsets which is why they have no power inside their own league.

It has nothing to do with intelligence. Because of the way the NFL is structured, players just don't have a lot of power compared to NBA players. The NFL is just a more powerful organization.

Exactly, the NFL being one the highest-grossing sports leagues with billionaires backing each team...the players could definitely aim for more money & the owners could afford it but the players aren't fighting for that..instead, they willingly put themselves in these trapped situations. No way in hell would the "love of football" have me out there taking less than what I'm worth.

I notice NFL fans always support the idea of the players being paid less money, having less power, rights, etc. It's crazy to me.

To scouts/execs if a player has a high IQ it means he has other options in life and may leave the sport, he will ask questions and challenge the structure. A smart athlete especially a black one intimidates them.

Lol no one is leaving the nba because of how smart they are

please name one nba player who retired early not due to injuries, being old or skills declining that they couldn’t get a contract

The idea of blacks getting their value in anything pieces these people off
