The last two minutes of an NBA game move at the pace of continental drift thanks to an interminable barrage of timeouts, replay reviews to determine exactly whose ass the ball bounced off of, and free throw back-and-forths. It’s boring, and bad, and turns what should be the most enthralling part of the game into a disjointed stop-and-go mess.

Thankfully, the NBA is aiming to come up with ways to fix things this offseason. Adam Silver told reporters in London today that the NBA had started to study the glacial ends of games this year, and will review their results this offseason. The reason why the league is considering improvements? You, the short-attention-span-having millennial who barely made it this far into this blog post:

“It’s something that I know all of sports are looking at right now, and that is the format of the game and the length of time it takes to play the game,” Silver said. “Obviously people, particularly millennials, have increasingly short attention spans, so it’s something as a business we need to pay attention to.”

Whether or not these whippersnappers with their Snaptube and their Tweetface are to blame, the NBA is very correct to try and speed up the ends of games.

Final two minutes takes fukking 15 minutes. Games can be out of reach yet coaches still be fouling, calling their 7 timeouts they have remaining, and of course we need to take three minutes to review if the team that is up by 18 last touched the ball.

I always find myself saying "how many timeouts do these nikkas have? :dahell:". shyt basically becomes football with the offense/defense switches. It would be more exciting to see more of a back and forth late in games. The last game of the WNBA Finals was very exciting and I found myself asking "what was so exciting about that? :jbhmm:". And then it occurred to me, they actually played back and forth rather than calling a timeout after every play. And I am honestly at the point where I would rather they just get some shyt wrong (they still do anyway) rather than take these long ass review breaks :yeshrug:.

The review breaks I don't mind in a super tight game. If the game is out of reach then why the fukk bother. Legit one Pelicans game this year we were up by like 10 with six seconds left and the refs huddled for a minute for an out of bounds questionable call then reviewed it for like 2 minutes. Crowd was like :why::beli:.

Timeouts though, NBA gotta chill with that shyt. Way too many. fukk it, should only be 3 a half. Maybe 4. Coaches get 7 timeouts AND the 2-3 TV timeouts. It's ridiculous.

There's a couple rules international rules the league needs to adapt.

1.) With FIBA rules, the shot clock only resets to 14 seconds after offensive rebounds instead of 24.
2.) International teams get two timeouts in the first half, three in the second half (can only use two in the final two minutes) and one for OT. These guys are pros. No reason to have timeouts every 2-3 minutes.

Call me a casual I don't care intentionally fouling and shooting free throws is s boring way to end a game maybe once in 10 games it actually works but shoot I'd rather my team lose than resort to that bs

essentially theyre using the last two minutes to "practice" :aicmon:end game scenarios but in an actual game.....and nobody wants to see that..Tom Thibodaux is a habitual line stepper in this

I can still remember back when the game was out of hand it would be called garbage time and the NBA game with turn into an and one mixtape...they need to bring it back to those days:lawd:
