:pachaha:
Sucks that this was his first coaching too and he got caught doing something so blatant, I would looked forward to the creative scheme Kidd, would have developed to homebrew timeouts

Makes no sense.
The slow down of the game in the final 2 minues, especially in championships and playoffs adds to the drama of the event.

Its not really basketball if you're stopping after every play, though. I personally want to either get rid of replay aside from buzzer beaters, or have the call reviewed instantly at NBA studios in NJ.

they are already moving to centrally reviewed calls, but again I don't see the point of trying to change the game to the inferior euro version.

Not sure about the first, because the logic is you get an extra possession so why only 14 secs, but could be an idea indeed. Def agree with the second one.

I watched a lot of the FIBA tournament this summer and the games indeed had more pace and less stops at the end, even close ones.
I think because with a 24 second clock, you get 8-10 seconds to get the ball across half court. It's obviously well across half court if you get an offensive rebound. The rule keeps the pace up too.

I think the back and forth is more dramatic. The end of the NCAA title game was awesome.

Replay reviews should count as a timeout for the team that calls for and wins the review.

For example:In the knicks/Bucks game the ball hit off of D.Rose before going out of bounds.Milwaukee got possession of the basketball after the review. The bucks then call a timeout which led to another break in the action.

The replay review should have been the bucks timeout.

Im glad this is being discussed... can't be mad at strategy that complies with the existing rules but all that fouling to stop the clock at the end of the game is very annoying....there needs to be some kind of threshold like if you down by 7+ with less than a minute to go and start that goofy fouling sht then an adfditional 15 seconds need to be taken off the game clock (or some sht like that)...and just becuse there was contact when your btch ass was shooting does not mean you got fouled - naw you just missed the shot

Without new ideas from the outside, we'd have a four corners offense with no shot clock run every second half in an empty arena

:hhh: That sounds awful
Why? It eliminates the following in a tight game:
Team A scores
Team B calls timeout to get the ball at half court and set up a play
Team B scores
Team A calls timeout to get the ball at half court and set up a play
etc

That's really what makes the end of games take so long.

In Game 4 or 5 of the 2015 Finals, I believe, the Cavs cut a 20 point lead down to like 3 when there were a flagrant foul. I swear the refs took a good 10 minutes reviewing the call and by the time the review ended, the Cavs werent hot anymore. That's not basketball. They could have reviewed that in the studio in 30 seconds.

The review breaks I don't mind in a super tight game. If the game is out of reach then why the fukk bother. Legit one Pelicans game this year we were up by like 10 with six seconds left and the refs huddled for a minute for an out of bounds questionable call then reviewed it for like 2 minutes. Crowd was like :why::beli:.

Timeouts though, NBA gotta chill with that shyt. Way too many. fukk it, should only be 3 a half. Maybe 4. Coaches get 7 timeouts AND the 2-3 TV timeouts. It's ridiculous.

They lose timeouts though. They only have 2 & 20 if have more than within last 2 mins.

There's a couple rules international rules the league needs to adapt.

1.) With FIBA rules, the shot clock only resets to 14 seconds after offensive rebounds instead of 24.
2.) International teams get two timeouts in the first half, three in the second half (can only use two in the final two minutes) and one for OT. These guys are pros. No reason to have timeouts every 2-3 minutes.

FIBA also plays 8 less mins/game.

There is no "end of the game" problem. Who cares about the casuals. And they only recently added that replay ish...mostly because of casuals and the "every other league has a review session". NBA used to be "Ref call stands", and they sometimes vote.
