When did hooking become a natural basketball move? If the reach is a foul then the ref will call it without the player having to hook the defender.

The hooking one is a little iffy imo because if you try to move into a jumpshot when a defenders arm is out, it’s gonna kinda hook them. The egregious ones where the offensive player just grabs the arm is clear, but there are a few that are legit fouls. Unless it’s basically a rule telling the offensive player “you’re not open. Pass the ball or make a move”.
