Some notable players (who made multiple All-NBA teams and/or are in the Hall of Fame) who were in the middle of their careers, just beginning their careers, or not in the NBA yet when the original 50 first dropped:

Gary Payton, Jason Kidd, Grant Hill, Reggie Miller, Dikembe Mutombo, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Chris Webber, Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson, Alonzo Mourning, Dirk Nowitzki, Ray Allen, Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter, Ben Wallace, Steve Nash, Paul Pierce, Yao Ming, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudemire, Chris Paul, Pau Gasol, Chauncey Billups, Kevin Durant, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, Lamarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin, Steph Curry, Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Paul George, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Draymond Green, Rudy Gobert, Joel Embiid, Nikolai Jokic.

That's 48 players. Obviously a guy like Kevin Love isn't going to make it, but there's a lot of names there that make you go "Do we push this guy out from the old list because this newer guy was better? :patrice:"

remember shaq made the og top 50 even though he was in the league for four years

No way they taking Mikan out, dude is legit the FIRST star Big Man, ever.

Dave DeBusschere had a legit career; 2 rings with the Knicks, 16, 11 career numbers

Dave Cowens lowkey had a slightly better career

I'm thinking guys like Lenny wilkins, bill walton, Earl Monroe are might be coming off

Lowkey, I can see no guys coming off to be honest

(Your list)
  1. Tim Duncan
  2. Kobe
  3. AI
  4. KG
  5. LeBron
  6. Steph Curry
  7. Durant
  8. Wade
  9. Giannis
  10. Dirk
This is only Ten, I don't see Many more guys from 1996-2021 being added to the official ALL TIME list.

I think we can come up with the other 15;

Maybe CP3, Manu, Tony P, Paul Pierce, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash (Two Time MVP lock)

T-Mac is hell stretch and Vince, too, though Vince had a 20 year career and the Dunk Contest

Yao, too

Alonzo Morning (Hall of Fame 2014) Maybe

Reggie might sneak in there

Worm, definitely Dwight

That's 25. Who am I missing?

Damn I didn't realize Shaq was on the squad back then. Breh had JUST got to the Lakers. Dominant but 1996-97 seems too early to have Shaq that high on the list.

Obviously he belongs now...but back then :yeshrug:

It was scrutinized back then. I remember. And Shaq didn’t even show up to the ceremony in Cleveland.

Yup. He was the most controversial pick and people shytted on it heavily. A lot of people felt like it was just a marketing pick on top of it being too early; to be fair, everyone criticizing it all recognized that Shaq WOULD become a top 50 player but just felt it was too early for him to have the honor.

The NBA had not seen nothing like Shaq since Wilt.

27 pts, 13 rb, 3 blocks, 2 ast a game on 60% shooting from 1992-93 to 1994-95

:mjlol: the numbers are stupid

People forget how raw Orlando Diesel was

I still don't wanna see Luka on the list with like 30 guys that should be on this over him
