Helped make the Celtics very successful during the big 3 era & he's done a good job in transitioning the team in a new direction.
The team is still a work in progress, but we're in a good place. Our projectory has been going upward not downward.

In 2012 he took Sullinger and Fab Melo back-to-back with Draymond still on the board, and Jae Crowder although he was slotted an early second rounder.
2013, trades 16th pick and two future seconds to move up 3 slots for Olynyk with Schroder, Giannis, Gobert and Dieng on the board.
2014, reaches for James Young over Gary Harris and Rodney Hood.
2015, reaches for another guard in Terry Rozier at 16 over Hollis-Jefferson and Tyus Jones. Then takes another guard at 28 in RJ Hunter over Montrezl, and then Jordan Mickey at 33.
I won't even go into depth about his garbage ass draft last year, all you need to know is he took Yabusele at 16
But he "consistently puts the organization in good position for opportunities" is not the same thing as "Ainge got lucky that Billy King was one of the worst GMs in NBA history".
And now this mothafukker bout to have Markelle fall into his lap

he's great at accumulating assets and then being horrible at cashing them in...so what good is the assets if he's bad at using them?

Draymond green was a diamond in the rough. Nobody could've predicted what he turned out to be.
He brought in quality pieces that has turned out extremely well.
We still have assets so it ain't the end of the world.
He does put us in good position for opportunities. That may not always mean that we capitalize on those opportunities, but without I doubt we get them & will continue to get them.
I trust Danny Ainge. The squad is growing & we are continuing to climb upward.
He could have went all in last summer. Instead dude just killed the value of all the draft picks they had.
Draymond wasn't some unknown, end of the second round type prospect, he was in that same discussion with Sullinger and Terrence Jones.
That "good position for opportunities" is bullshyt, you're essentially just listing the job description for an NBA GM.

He could still get a big time player if he's willing to include the Net picks. Or Maybe he thinks he's not getting to the finals till Lebron slows down anyway and would rather keep those picks and build to run the east in a few years
That's part of it. We have known that those picks would be valuable.
So why did Ainge just keep drafting last year when he could have flipped those pieces for Butler and then drafted Fultz or whoever this year?
It sounds like the Bulls were asking for the world at the time of the last draft
I would imagine they wanted Dunn with the Celtics #3 pick, and an additional Nets pick attached with it
I also believe they wanted either Crowder or Bradley too
Last year was one of the worst drafts ever. I doubt he could have used the pick as the main chip for Butler
