I get that but honestly, no nikka is going to willingly go to Minnasota to play ball. No one is dying to play for the Kings. At least not until they start winning...and even then nikka a'int trying to stay around. Dwight and Shaq left a good situation in Orlando ....why? Free Agency isn't an option for some franchises...the draft is all they got.

There are trades. And everybody doesn't have options like Shaq or Dwight. Most players have to go where they are wanted and sometimes that's gonna be Minnesota or SAC. You don't need superstars to just not suck. What about when small market team do manage to rise up to at least be decent...what do they get...nothing but a ride on the treadmill. Imagine if Denver or Minny or even PHX had a legit shot at Wiggins or Embiid.

The only way to completely eliminate tanking is to eliminate drafting based on record. If you don't want to eliminate using records in some form to determine the draft order then you have no choice but to embrace the potential tanking that comes with it.

If it were up to me I'd say just eliminate the draft altogether, let players coming out of college become free agents and choose where they want to play. But I know that has no chance of ever happening so it'll just be a pipedream for me.

They should just go ahead and reward tanking. There's no way to eliminate it. And even if there's just a 1% chance of getting a higher pick, they'll still do it. Be like the NFL. At least that way there's a better chance for the bottom feeders to make it out of the basement. The current system keep the league top heavy. There's a reason these teams suck. What's the difference between being the 5th worst team and being the worst? This change will just make it easier for a borderline playoff team to rebound and jumpstart a rebuild. The Bulls didn't deserve Derrick Rose. The Cavs didn't deserve Andrew Wiggins. Just go full heel.

I wouldn't mind that either. They might need to retract a few teams to make it more ideal. But there's enough talent to at least make it as competitive as it is now. You'll have good teams and bad teams.

I think the draft brings hope to lowly franchises though.

I agree with this. the teams that suffer the most are teams that actually try everything they can to make the playoffs and win, but wont ever get past the first two rounds. So the only choice is to either blow everything up or pray for a miracle. Give those middling teams the same shot to get a superstar and become elite.

Basically the way it goes now. Get superstar first, build team 2nd. waste years of stars prime.
But why not build competitive team now. Get superstar after, then take next step.

would you not want to see that phoenix team with wiggins on the roster. What makes Cleveland more deserving of getting the top player in the draft when they've been so inept the past 4 years.
