I don't think it's a tough task for them to at least know players' names. The "Who He Play For/ Still In The League" segments were funny to me in my late teens /early 20s, but I'm in my mid-30s now. Once I transitioned to the "working world", I can see how someone can get agitated by their lack of preparation.

I've worked with people for years, and they still can't pronounce my name right....same with teachers/professors I've had. Only trained journalists shuld be ciritiqued for mispronunciations. They do things like phonetic spellings.

But also, these dudes are HOFers. They're not gonna know names until you make a name for yourself (good or bad), or enter those discussions...especially from an era that's not theirs.
And that's on you, why are you not correcting people who you work with on the correct pronunciation:gucci:. I'm not even on that hyper masculine type of time most these Coli dudes on, but that is behavior shown by young 11 year old boys, or beta males :russ:

It’s only tv media too. I think nba analysts on alternative media is better than the other sports too. Kobe's Detail Show had the best basketball analysis we've seen on TV in years and he would have probably killed on TV if he wanted that. He talked about body weight, positioning, broke down offensive and defensive schemes, etc. Then you have Paul Pierce and Barkley not being aware of players and how good teams are, or Barkley saying "jump shooting teams cannot win an NBA title."

Think about how much we knew about what was the West Coast Offense or the Air Corryel or the zone-blitz or the difference between a 3-4 end and 4-3 end, etc. We don't get any of that in our NBA analysis on TV. There is no explanation on what is the dominant NBA scheme. Its a joke.

They got KD trying his hand at some. I haven't checked it yet but its gotten some decent reviews. Bean's was great though and will be hard to top. Even Peyton's over in football is nice.

who want to hear about an 8th man’s shooting percent from 18 feet out during a night game on the Monday after a holiday
Knowing the starting pf on a team = knowing the 8th man's shooting percentage from 18 feet out during a game on the Monday after a holiday?

I'd trust what a couple MVP players say over a writer who never played.

who didn’t they know :unimpressed:

Within the last week or so, Shaq has said on air that he didn’t know who Christian Wood or DeAndre Hunter until TNT showed their games that night.

I’m not sure why y’all keep being purposely obtuse. Nobody is asking Chuck or Shaq or Paul Pierce to memorize the Basketball-Reference stats of every player in the league. Folks are just asking for people who get to paid to cover the NBA to know who players are that aren’t household names. Or to not butcher the names of European/African stars.

This is quite literally bare minimum stuff, I’m not sure why it’s getting twisted into people asking for them in-depth analytical breakdowns :skip:

tbf the Cavs were a bottom 5 defenisve team in 2019, 2020 and are by far the worst offense in the league

maybe he got confused

He gets paid to watch basketball man, lol. At the very least, he could even go to lesser known analysts/personalities who follow the game and reiterate their points like Stephen A be doing sometimes instead of giving his own opinion b/c he know he aint watched shyt but a highlight or two.

The represent the fans. Nobody but writers like dude in Op are watching these shows or games with spreadsheet and memorizing the name, height, and statline of every player. And going on tv and reciting that stuff to us is boring as fukk too.
Basketball is a sport. Sports are entertainment. The inside the NBA show is for entertainment.
As long as they are being entertaining in a basketball context, they are doing their jobs right.
If you want me to remember your name or know who you are (Christian Wood) you gotta be entertaining too.
