My guy I’m a hawks fanatic. I’m pretty sure 94% of this board doesn’t know who DeAndre Hunter is either since the Hawks have had no national TV games in the past two years but that doesn’t upset me. Name recognition comes when the team gets better.

How many of y’all honestly knew who Christian Woods was before this free agency period if you weren’t a pistons fan :unimpressed:

y’all swear y’all know every single thing about every single NBA player.

y’all in here talking like they are former tennis players or nascar drivers who were hired to be NBA analysts.

Shaq and Chuck are two of the greatest players of all time. I’m pretty sure they know what the fukk they are talking about. Just because they weren’t familiar with a player who starting to make a name for himself and a guy in his 2nd season is enough for y’all to say they have no idea about basketball

Christian Wood was in MIP conversations last year, was one of the most coveted FA bigs and is averaging like 23/10 so far this season. So for a paid NBA analyst to say he doesn’t know who that is, is a bad look. DeAndre Hunter was a top 5 pick that was the best player on an NCAA title team, and is a starter on a potential playoff team. So yes, for a paid NBA analyst to say he doesn’t know who that is, is a bad look. Does 94% of this board get paid to talk about basketball? Are we holding someone whose job is literally to discuss the NBA to the same standards as some random nikkas on an Internet forum?

Y’all keep jumping to these extremes. Nobody said Chuck & Shaq know absolutely nothing about basketball. Nobody said Chuck & Shaq don’t have the resume to talk about basketball. Hell, most aren’t even saying that they’re not fun personalities. Essentially all people are saying is, “If you get paid to talk about the NBA, you should probably know who (X player) is” or “If you get paid to talk about the NBA, you should probably know what country (X international star) represents”. How low is the bar if we’re acting like this is unreasonable?

There's lots of in-depth, analytical NBA media out there. Let Inside the NBA be what it is. You don't have to watch.

This inside the NBA is it what it is. I watch Inside the NBA for laughs I listen to podcasts for analytical break downs. With that said I do like the player aspect of things that Chuck/Kenny/Shaq brings in the table and Ernie of course is the man for holding it all together with personalities as big as Shaq and Chuck

I’m an English, primarily football(soccer) fan who intermittently dips in and out of of following the NBA. I probably watch more NFL.

Even i had heard of Christian Wood.:mjlol:

As an outsider the NBA is sorely lacking in actual analysis. There’s definitely a place for light hearted, basically shyt talking coverage but you need both, or a balance.

it’s sad because i’d like to read the NBA threads on here and learn something but the coli’s basketball discussions are a reflection of that coverage. Had to learn quick not to take most of the shyt said on here seriously.:mjcry:

entertainment is all that matters at the end of the day.

This stat driven culture has done nothing for the game except remove the diversity of playstyles and reduce the entertainment value.
Now they want to do that with the show too?:snoop:

The day i watch an NBA game where they take only 3s the entire game and then tune into Shaq going deep into analytics on why what i just saw was in fact great basketball will be the last time i ever tune in to an NBA game
This is not a term paper. I'm not grading them on their accuracy. Was the segment entertaining or not? Thats all i care about.

This isn't even a good faith argument, because i've seen it in boxing with Mayweather. Dude does everything technically right in the match. The commentator give you all the numbers and expert stats. He was 96% accurate blah blah blah. And then people complain that is boring as fukk.

are you entertained or are you not entertained? thats the only question the matters. Doesn't matter how much you get correct.
Just a pointless nitpick that addresses nothing about the bottomline is all i'm saying.

You got all of that from saying they should know player's name?

How is knowing someone's name analytics?

But they know the boxers' name right?

Knowing Christian Wood isn't the same as knowing his true shooting % when he dribbles 3 times with his left hand before shooting from 18 feet out on the left side of the court.

nobody watching tnt hoping for a 60 minutes interview...
Knowing the names of the players in the game you're talking about = 60 minutes interview?

No one is questioning why Shaq isn't on some Narduwar shyt, just that he should know player's names.

I watch Inside the NBA for laughs I listen to podcasts for analytical break downs.
Shaq knowing who Christian or De'Andre are is an analytical breakdown? Knowing that Jokic is Serbian is an analytical breakdown?

The ignorance on the tv broadcasts definitely breeds ignorance among fans. We see it on this forum.

Broadcasts got cats shytting on the current product, not knowing the players or teams they're giving analysis on and then people question why ratings are down.

It's not analytics you are trying to attribute a side comment i made to another comment i made
The original argument you are trying to address was me simply saying that knowing his name does indicate of the quality of the program. How much you are entertained by it does. because this is entertainment.

Steve Kerr was better at remembering names when he was on TNT. but i would i rather have him in studio over Shaq? no.

What are u quoting me for? I just stated I don’t give a shyt if they fukk up names or dont know the players? That’s not why I watch it. If ur looking for an argument look elsewhere

The irony is that Shaq and c00nles don't watch games and only read statlines and that's exactly what you're complaining about.

i'm a casual i don't need to worry about anyone past the top 50
You being sarcastic but it's true. I know everybody on my team (heat) and everybody on the Contenders (Laker, Nets, bucks, clippers, celtics)
but if you the 12th man on the thunder right now, don't really give a fukk. and i don't want to show to waste time talking about them either.

Charles and Shaq are often ill informed while Kenny at least makes an attempt to come off briefed on players. What makes This is very much an NBA problem is that rarely are any serious writers of depth given a true lane. Its mostly those who lets you know about the next scandal or big trade that are given room. Aint shyt serious about NBA coverage. That shyt needs to change.

on another note, Its hilarious when Sassy A talks football and speaks on players he thinks are still active but have been retired, traded or injured to him speaking on their qualities knowing damn well he didnt watch them play. :russ: those associated with the league’s coverage often come off lazy.
