Do NFL and CFB reporters know every single player on every team?

No, but that isn’t a necessity to have a good coverage. CFB coverage isn’t great either, but that’s because the top dogs only care to cover the 6 blue bloods that perennially contend for the CFP. It’s a similar issue with the NBA, in that 95% of the coverage is dedicated to the same few big market franchises/superstars. It’s been better this season though

Whatever makes one sport better than another...what would make one consider football better than baseball? The NBA as a league has also done a far better job of dominating the narrative on social media, and recognized that market way earlier.

I don’t think they do as good a job overall, and it disappoints me bc they have the better game, more interesting athletes, and a more entertaining league to follow. They just don’t maximize it

A reporter not knowing the 51st man on a football team is the same as Shaq not knowing the name of a ROY candidate, or the guy that's been starting for the Knicks at center and been one of the top shot blockers over the past few years?

I always compare the NBA to wrestling in they'll only be as big as their biggest star cause they don't grow the game beyond that. They put it all on one player to carry the league

I’ll say wrestling fans are even better than NBA fans, bc at least they want new shyt. They just want new shyt done with the same principles as the old shyt. There’s a large section of NBA fans, and these the ones that’s the hardcore types, that just want to see more Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, Magic clones...while shytting on the new players that most resemble those types

It's all good. The framing is wrong for this argument right now.

When they hear or see someone say "when we want to be entertained we'll call the black guys, when we want to be informed we'll call the white guys/nerds" then nikkas will get the wake up call.

By then it'll be too late to turn the ship around. But for now let's laugh at Shaq not knowing the first name of a ROY candidate.

There's a difference between me saying I know these fringe players because I'm often betting on how many points/rebounds/assists they'll have and me saying I have more overall NBA knowledge than them.

And for what it's worth there's a lot of people out there who watch a lot more of these games than I'm sure Shaq and Charles and even Kenny do. We look to them for entertainment and for analysis that an actual player would have, but they're not the first source I would go to if I want to actually get some quality top-tier insight.
