Get fukking used to it because it's not going anywhere. Analytics in basketball is here to stay.
While that may be true, that doesn't mean we have to get used to it, especially since unless there's a metric that has a formula in constant change, they're basically worthless because they set one up to believe something that isn't true at all. Case in point: Jeff Green.

You are going to get used to if you watch and read about basketball. So, I don't know what you're talking about. What's wrong about what they said about Jeff Green? Dude has been such an underwhelming player his whole career.

What's his whole career got to do with what he's doing this season? See this is the innate problem. If you ain't watching games, you'll just automatically assume that he's still 'underwhelming', inconsistent or bad since you saw his name being tossed about in a metric evaluation that depicts him in a bad light and just carry on with that way of thinking.

This has been by far his best season (up to this point), he's been as consistent as one could be given his team situation, he's been the team's best offensive player and defensive player and is usually tasked with guarding the opposition team's best offensive player every night. Yet going by this RPM, you'd think he's a black hole who doesn't play any defense and a cancer to the team.

All he's doing is scoring.

:heh:

You haven't been watching Celtics games, so how would you know? The article shyts on his inability to make team mates better and his assist rate, when how the hell is he suppose to have an accurate reading of how often he gets is team mates involved when he had a PG that averaged double digits assist and dominated the ball, so that when he had the ball in his hands the only option basically was to score? Plus like I said, he's been their best defender, this shyt doesn't weigh into account that, he plays the most minutes on a poor defensive team, the fact he guards the best offensive player on the floor (stands to the reason that when the opposition's best player isn't on the floor that team doesn't have their best offense out there - and the fact the Celtics bench and starters have been in constant rotation in the starting 5, so during this time he's not on the court they're usually taking on other teams' benches - gap in scoring/talent is going to be a lot closer during the time he's off the court).

There's only been a small gap in Green's and Jimmy Butler's play this season - Butler has been better on defense but not by much (he's helped by having a better defensive team) and they've both been near equal on offense. Now if you were to swap both of them up to this point, you'd find that Butler would have a similar RPM to what Green currently has and the Green would have a similar RPM to what Butler currently has.
