The New York Post published a story this week looking at WWE's recent downturn in viewership.

A rep from NBC Universal issued the following statement regarding the situation:

“WWE programming delivers one of the most massive live audiences in cable on a weekly basis and is consistently a top performer for our networks.”

The Post article notes that despite viewers tuning out, WWE stock is still up approximately 40% this year.
:youngsabo: & there's NOTHING you can do about it

It's crazy that despite fans tuning out, that shareholders and NBC Universal are still pleased. At this rate we won't get any change.

Edit: Although I think people have learned to buy the stock in the fall and sell it near it's yearly peak around Mania.

"the stock is up" is a relative term, depending on when youre comparing. It was between $20 and $21 in Sept, it;s down to $17 now. Shareholders dumped it like a bytch after the last quartlerly report

:patrice: I don't know about that stock to be honest, I wonder if the E' is inflating it by sources. :jbhmm:

Since WWE is a commodity and the board has to convince people to keep stock high, by assuring them everything is alright. USA Network needs to have WWE pull in ratings for their sponsorship, and if they aren't putting in the viewers, then they have to dump them to assure their cash flow.

Its not like USA needs to WWE, but WWE needs USA.

:patrice: Just suspicious.

Give it time. Short sellers have NOTHING to lose right now. Now, had they waited to see if New Day, Reigns, and League of Nations actually got a chance to cook??:patrice:

Shorts were likely waiting for the new TV deal to short the living shyt outta it more and become millionaires while everyone (besides Steph who sold already "for tax purposes :mjpls:) in the E is scrambling to try to get buys at 5 dollars. WWE wasn't worth writing 2 paragraphs about in such a widespread rag.

A corner looked to be turning, and short sellers needed to put it to the fire NOW, in case the new focus took off.
