Only 9 D-1 players declared for the 2014 draft after only one year of college ball. Only 8 for 2013, 9 for 2012 and 8 for 2011.
For whatever reason people like to pretend like there's this mass exodus of freshman players leaving after a year but it isn't close to being the truth
If that starts, then the US gov't will get involved with banning them from going over there, unless the pay a hefty tax. shyt is fukked up and the ridiculous trickery needs to be stopped.Good I wish more players would play overseas and get payed for there talents then have these rich fukks mooch off your name
Nothing's stopping them now except for the fact that the hype machine won't follow them
Lets us make some $$ off you first

And that will be the end of college bball. Other leagues will pay these guys. And nikkas will just leave after the 1st season they're allowed to play which will still be considered a one and done![]()
and nobody even knew who anthony bennett was until the cavs said they were drafting him
That would mean a boom of talent in the D-League and overseas for the NBA
If your a elite prospect your going over seas or playing in the D-league. This isn't football you miss a year in basketball and it could set you back big time.
Only way you get better is playing in games NCAA is foolish if there really thinking about this.
The NCAA is bullshyt. I hope they go either overseas or straight to the D-League instead of this nonsense.
go to school to get a degree
or go overseas/D league if you wanna go pro
NBA D-League might get good.
should be an alterantive. Also I think the NBA should do a better job of developing guys in the D-league
13. When it comes to compensation, D-League players continue to be placed in one of three classifications (A, B or C) based on experience and make a mere $25,500, $19,000 or $13,000, respectively. Daily per diem on road trips is $40 ... compared to $113 in the NBA. But D-League teams do provide housing and medical care to players to offset the comparatively low wages in relation to what they could command in leagues abroad. A relative D-League star such as Seth Curry, furthermore, is actually making well over six figures for the season once you add in Curry's guarantee of $150,000 that he received to go to training camp with the Orlando Magic before, as Orlando envisioned, winding up on the Magic's D-League team in Erie. (One footnote here: D-Leaguers must pay a buyout ranging from $40,000 to $50,000 if they want to terminate their contract to leave during the season for a more lucrative deal internationally.)

The NBA needs to bump up D-Leaguers salaries first before we talk about the D-League being a viable option.
If the NBA is serious about making the D-League a legitimate, viable option for an 18 year old, they need to up those salaries at least to $55,000, $45,000, and $40,000. It's not going to compete with going international, but it might be enough to entice kids to skip college, play a year or two in the D-League to learn NBA systems, life on the road, etc. Plus with international, the game is a lot different over there than it is in college.
The NBA is going to be flush with new TV money once the next contract starts. Might as well reinvest it in the D-League to make it more attractive.
I agree. Nikkas can make like 5 times more overseas, so the D-league is a huge risk. Comiss Silver needs to work on improving D-league salaries. The NBA needs to bump up D-Leaguers salaries first before we talk about the D-League being a viable option.
