Why should players have to capitulate to greedy cacs or else move to China (which no other sportsmen in the world have to do and which most college players won't do regardless) in order to qualify to play pro basketball?
Because there's no obligation for a domestic minor league. Ask any soccer star why they have to do that

The NBA needs to bump up D-Leaguers salaries first before we talk about the D-League being a viable option.

If the NBA is serious about making the D-League a legitimate, viable option for an 18 year old, they need to up those salaries at least to $55,000, $45,000, and $40,000. It's not going to compete with going international, but it might be enough to entice kids to skip college, play a year or two in the D-League to learn NBA systems, life on the road, etc. Plus with international, the game is a lot different over there than it is in college.

The NBA is going to be flush with new TV money once the next contract starts. Might as well reinvest it in the D-League to make it more attractive.
If they bump em up too high, their salaries will be higher than the WNBA salaries.

WNBA max is $100,000 :damn:

If your a elite prospect your going over seas or playing in the D-league. This isn't football you miss a year in basketball and it could set you back big time.
Only way you get better is playing in games NCAA is foolish if there really thinking about this.
that's what they want, now they've got you even longer.

and this is dumb, the NBA draft is small as shyt and pulls internationally, the proportion of freshmen dipping to the NBA is too small to be this pressed

whatever happened with this?

sounds like they were just mad that most of their star one-and-dones dont shine in college, then turn around and show out when they get into the NBA.

thats moreso their own problem tho. they need to install more rule changes in order to open the game up more.

I would only recommend that they prop up the D-league like NHL's semi-pro leagues, like the AHL, or MLB's AAA league where it is a legit farm league system and teams can move players in and out of the minors and into the majors as necessary and where salaries are not-too-bad.
This way, high school kids could opt to play in one of these teams, get paid more than if they went to college, but not good enough to play in the NBA yet. Kids still have the option to play Div I B-ball.
The problem is money as the D league doesn't have a lot of financial backing. They should change the name too because D is associated with depressing.
