What big of a difference is i5 vs i7?
Mobile Core i5 is dual core and sometimes quad core whereas the core i7 is quad-core with more processing speed and more cache..i5 is more energy efficient. It is still a powerful chip since it supports hyper threading which allows each core to break down processing loads into two separate threads allowing a dual core i5 processor to work like a quad core. It also support turbo boost which allows the processor to ramp up processing speed under large workload.

i7 is more powerful but also more expensive and is only needed for process intensive stuff

Too many options even under the same brand, PC will be used mainly for personal use(videos , web browsing etc) and some work(web conferencing, data crunching) stuff aka it will not be a gaming PC
At that flabby price you may as well find out who has the best warranty and go with that.

You could build a computer that does that for wayyyy cheaper. At lease 150-250 range

could even torrent windows to make it cheaper:mjpls:
You can build laptops now?

Acer or Dell with at least 8GB of ram and atleast an i3 processor

What would make one need an i7 in a laptop?
A few examples: high-end (HD files) video editing, encoding, perhaps some gaming or similar applications that benefit from more cores/logical cores. In other words, not much. Don't get too bogged down on stats or anything else that's on paper. Real world, most people don't need an i7 in a laptop. In fact, most people don't even need anything above an i3. :manny:Your money is better spent on RAM or storage. Those are the more common bottlenecks.

I learned the hard way you get what you pay for. Two years ago I bought a brand new ACER Laptop off Amazon. I7, 8 gb of Ram, 1tb HD $420. I thought I got the deal of the year, then the hard drive died a month later. I replaced that and the the touchscreen function died. I will never purchase Acer again
