that hard drive size :scusthov:
right why pay for all those specs when your not even gonna use them

Dell - Inspiron 15.6" Laptop - Intel Core i3 - 4GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - Black

^^this is more in line for basic use
with a Dell you BETTER get a warranty...:mjcry:
I learned the hard way you get what you pay for. Two years ago I bought a brand new ACER Laptop off Amazon. I7, 8 gb of Ram, 1tb HD $420. I thought I got the deal of the year, then the hard drive died a month later. I replaced that and the the touchscreen function died. I will never purchase Acer again
Acer rate wayyyyy better than Dell :scust:

Get something with a good CPU, dedicated GPU if possible, and if it doesn't come with an SSD, swap it with one.

Don't get Dell... Ever

And if you want it just for personal use, might as well get a Chromebook for about $200-$800 (some as high as $1500)

Get an external HD or high USB drive for more space, with office 365 online for work and just go that route...

Save up an additional $200 and get a MacBook.

Take advantage of the month with back to school sales.

Does price come into play as far as longevity? I have had soo many $299 laptops fry up

in a way it does especially with battery life and cheaper parts....but at the end of the day not matter how much you spend your dealing with a laptop breh

I've had the same refurbished toshiba satellite i3 6gb ram/500 hdd for 4+ years and its still running good......mostly cause ive tooken care of it, consistently kept on top of the maintenance and updates...

Get something with a good CPU, dedicated GPU if possible, and if it doesn't come with an SSD, swap it with one.

pretty sure if it has a GPU it already comes with a SSD

A few years back I bought a Dell laptop around the time windows 8 was being forced on us. Within 6 months the hard drive fried from all the damn updates that 8 forced :mjcry: I then replaced the hard drive and installed Windows 7. For some reason the damn wireless card would NOT work with all network :dahell: to this day I NEVER have figured out why then eventually the wireless just started dropping on the networks that it did connect too :martin: by today standards it's still a good system with an I5 an 8 gigs of memory but it's totally unusable and unreliable for even the most basic shyt you want to do on it. My kids won't even use it to browse the net :to:

And the shyt I seen (I was a tech) made sure that, without a shadow of a doubt, I would never buy another Dell computer or recommend one.

Same here bro...worked for several companies with exclusive dell contracts as a tech and I already knew before I came in for the day that I was going to spend at least a third of it on the phone with technical support :mjcry: only reason I bought this one was because the microcenter was pushing a promotion for Dell systems. I lost cause I already knew better :to:
