Need some quick advice

I am amazed at how accurately your ideals and thoughts depict who you truly are - that's not even a personal attack, just an observation.

Even someone with your disposition should be able to point out the obvious answer to these questions.

1. What do we want? How much time do you have? How about starting with an immediate cease of unarmed black men and women dying at the hands of law enforcement? How about some oversight and consistent justice for the so-called "bad apples"? A national database of law enforcement officials who routinely are reported for crossing the line is a good start.

2. Looting isn't the problem, it's the result. If a person is kidnapped and thrown in the trunk of a car or locked in a room, do you scold the victim for "making too much noise" or "destroying property" to get someone's attention or do you punish the assailant? The entire premise of questioning looting is classic confirmation bias.

3. If its not about race then there should be multiple examples that can be easily cited in the news about unarmed white people being routinely murdered by the police. Instead, there are quite a few memorable examples of ARMED whites not even so much as being arrested.

These are not the type of questions anyone trying to understand this or any incident like it would even ask.

As someone who hobnobs in predominately white circles, I’ve had some interesting conversations recently, and i thought I’d pose some of the tougher questions i find myself “casually” faced with to you brehs... most of whom I’m diametrically opposed with ideologically.

1. What exactly do we(the black community) want to see happen?
2. How is looting justified? And why should it take a back seat now that people are dying as a result?
3. Why do we think its all about race?

I’ve answered these in several conversation, but want to hear your takes, if any.

1. I've done a lot of hobnobing with whites through the years because of work, school, a friend dating someone white. I've seen how they're treated by the police. It's different and it's how it should be for everyone. We shouldn't have to worry that if the cops get involved in a situation that it will escalate simply because we're black. There needs to be social and economic changes. No welfare, Section 8, SNAP do not count. That shyt is for everybody and there are plenty of ain't shyt and will never be shyt whites in the system too. That will always be the case. There are always going to be ain't shyt people. The thing is setting up the sandbox for those who want to build something and start various types of businesses, can, and without all the bullshyt. Also realize that even with that, most people are are just going to be worker bees. They need to be able to take care of themselves and their families. Which means more affordable housing. Which doesn't mean Section 8. Just make stuff for people to afford to live. On top of any legislation, there has to be empathy from everyone, and understanding that real change is not going to happen in 4,8, or 12 years. It's long term and generational. Just because you grow an apple tree in your backyard, it may not bear fruit for 2-5 years. Like the old proverb that says, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." I

2. I don't think that looting is justified, but it's a symptom of a larger problem. A problem that has not been rectified at all. The things being said now are things our grandparents were saying in the 60's. Imagine being in a relationship, and you're always arguing with your partner because they keep doing the same thing over and over again. They don't see the big problem though. That relationship isn't going to work unless things change. Or it ends with both people hating and resenting each other. Now the one that's complaining about issues is out cheating. Is it justified? No, but it's a symptom of a larger problem.

3. It's about race because that's how this country was founded. The Irish and Scottish weren't enslaved along with Africans. And indentured is not the same. Blacks were the ones who were terrorized because they wanted to exercise their right to vote. The FHA had it in their rules to not sell and give loans to blacks. Our communities are the ones that were redlined. But when "America Was Great," this country and banks gave out home and business loans, like a pedophile giving out candy to kids, to whites. With little to no interest. On top of how federal and state labor market policies, with undisguised racial intent, depressed African American wages. So even if you somehow got a decent paying job, or maybe had your own business, in black only segregated areas you often times paid way more in rent making it harder to save and pass something down to your kids.

2. I don't "justify" looting but actions have consequences. Shyt keeps happening over and over and people are fed up. This is just a natural consequence of society's failure to fix the underlying issue.

With coworkers, its more like, the riots will come up, and someone will say, "i wonder what they are expecting/wanting to see happen. the eyes will dart my way"
Or if its on someones screen and i walk by, then its "what do you think about all this?" and its a video of a white guy being stomped out defending his business.

1. Police need to be held to a higher standard. There are no good cops until they start crossing the thin blue line away from the bad cops. So let’s start with consequences for being in the field at ANY incident and not having a working body/dash camera. How about no overtime for the fiscal year? How about the police union can’t protect cops who turn their cameras off? How about anything other than the unaccountability we’ve been subjected to? We want consequences and oversight.

2. Looting isn’t justified, but lawlessness is a natural reaction to the vacuum created by the willful allowance of law enforcement abuses. Consider it the least harmful of ‘for every action there is an equal and opposite one.’ I think the alternative would be much scarier for the pearl clutches, see Micah Johnson.
