This isn't true. Black Africans are dark and brown skinned not light skin. I just linked you a study that concludes light skin and light skinned features in African American comes from white admixture through DNA testing and skin color measurement. There is no natural source for light skin in black Africa (excluding East Africa, the mixed tribes up North and the Bushmen, who aren't really black, to the South), unlike America where African Americans live next to whites.
Hence, since African Americans' light skin men and features don't come from Africans naturally but rather from whites, and there is no population of whites in Africa to draw light skin, there are virtually no natural light skins in Black Africa. Dark skin men are original Blacks.
In the oldest African American slave pictures and depictions of African American ancestors on or near slave boats, every slave is dark skin:
Light skins only come about when the slaves are domesticated. There are never any light skin or mixed people in old slave depictions like the above. They all look like black African slaves taken straight from Africa:

Dark skin in the summer, light skin in the winter
I just noticed not too long ago that none of the men I'm usually attracted to are "chocolate". All of the men that I have been attracted to were a medium skintone like myself. I guess one could call it a preference, although I did not pick it or purposely exclude anyone. I don't think there is anything wrong with that either. I don't bash other pple bc they don't fit what I am attracted to though.

What is medium skin tone, brown skin? It might be you bear some self hate and think men whom are too black or too dark, which implies some self hate, which is normal for black women. Many black women don't even go out in the sun because they are afraid of getting too dark. It's also common in Hispanic countries for Hispanic women to prefer men who aren't "too dark". This too stems from anti-blackness.
