This will always be so."[135] Young was also a vocal opponent of theories of human polygenesis, being a firm voice for stating that all humans were the product of one creation.[136]

Throughout his time as prophet, Young went to great lengths to deny the assumption that he was the author of the practice of priesthood denial to black men, asserting instead that the Lord was.

According to Young, the matter was beyond his personal control and was divinely determined rather than historically or personally as many assumed.[137]

Young taught that the day would come when black men would again have the priesthood, saying that after "all the other children of Adam have the privilege of receiving the Priesthood, and of coming into the kingdom of God, and of being redeemed from the four-quarters of the earth, and have received their resurrection from the dead, then it will be time enough to remove the curse from Cain and his posterity."[138]

These racial restrictions remained in place until 1978, when the policy was rescinded by church president Spencer W. Kimball,[139] and the church subsequently "disavow[ed] theories advanced in the past" to explain this ban,[140] essentially attributing the origins of the ban solely to Young.[141]

finished watching this last night. I wasn’t sure I’d like it. but I fukks with “journey movies” plus the various storylines and violence had me locked in. Also reminds me of how white people fukked over the Native Americans

Question, Pratt saw the mormon dude had his friend watch and knew he had something to do with it, makes sense. But why didnt Pratt but 2 + 2 together when the mormans put on the same dirty hoods that the ppl that attacked his camp/scalped him?

Also that wolves scene was dumb as hell. Why would the wolves bypass the easy food with the horses to attack the cabin? I guess they just needed the kids to do something like Isaac went to save Sara.

Other than that, good show. They definitely getting killed on their way to cali though.

series had a spark when it first started...first 2 eps was top tier then slowly went on the decline..i still enjoyed it cool lil series...that sara bytch was annoying as hell reminded me of the wife from breaking bad lol.

Just watched the show and it's pretty damn good.

The crazy part is that the massacre where the Mormon soldiers attacked the travelers in like Ep1 or Ep2......it was actually WORSE in real life. Instead of a full on attack, they came "in peace" and convinced the folks to give up their weapons.

Then they separated the men from the women/children. After that, they killed all the men and then executed the women and most of the kids, except kids under the age of 8. The U.S. government eventually found the kids and got them sent back to their kinfolk.

Brigham Young....a lot of the shyt he says in the movie comes from direct quotes he made in real life. Always wondered what Steve Young thought about his great-great-great grandfather....

Only drawback was Sara acting like a dumbazz the whole show but "I get it." She's a civilized woman from back East and thought she knew everything. Urban dwelling folks didn't know how rough the West was, even compared to the backcountry in the East.

Long stretches with no water, wayyyy more Indians, much bigger mountains, crazy weather etc. Even an experienced outdoorsman from Kentucky or a cagey breh from Louisiana/Texas swamps would be challenged going to fukking Utah Territory in 1857...let alone a white broad from Philly.

Mormon history is nuts.
