I think those 'Egyptians' who are basically just Roman and Turkish mutts themselves with a hint of native Egyptian are angry because Netflix is explaining in layman's terms how a predominantly black empire became whitewashed almost totally. They don't want people to really know how they got there

Written in stone, write whatever in your history books
Me and ancient Egyptian skin tone had similar looks
On my trip out to Cairo, I felt home on arrival
I swam in the Red Sea, took a boat on the Nile

fukk what anyone says, the pictures speak a thousand words.

Apparently those tour guides love taking people around the meagre latter dynasties when Egypt was now whitewashed out..but if you know your shyt you'll go where the majority of the stuff is where it's Blacks on the walls.

Or where they managed to bleach the faces.

You know what's so irritating about this painting is that the faired skinned soldiers are supposed be Semitic groups. Syrians, Lebanese, Turks, Libyans, Tunisians, etc. We know IRL what these people look like yet, the Egyptians drew themselves much darker. White supremacists will use this logic by saying the Nubians were drawn darker than the Egyptians but, they turn a blind eye to the Semitics being multiple shades lighter :beli:

Queen Tiye is even worse. They tried to reconstruct her face and lighten her skin up and she still looked black :heh: It's mental illness.

There's a UK breh that does digital reconstructions on YT. He did one for Queen Tiye

But the one that blew me away was his reconstruction of King Djoser :whoo:

I say let them get mad. Black artists and creatives should just keep on depicting and popularizing images of Ancient Egyptians as Black people because that's what they were, and it's what they would be classified as if they lived today. Even Michael Jackson knew what time it was back in '92 when he did the "Remember the Time" video with all Black Egyptians :blessed:

Cleopatra wasn't black but, she wasn't a white bish from Kansas either.

Either way I'm glad they made the show for the background cast. People need to get comfortable with seeing Black Egyptians on screen because they've lied so much about it. It's good the iconography is out there even if they took some liberties with the main role.

There are plenty of actual black Pharaohs to do a doc about. Color-bending wasn't needed.

It would be like being ok with Zoe Saldana playing Nina Simone.

With all that said, Egyptians really showed their ass yet again.
