That said, it's pretty disingenuous of everyone to be mad at the Nets for acquiring the 2nd best PG in the league at the time. Once they did that, they couldn't afford to rebuild.
Not in NY you can't. We'll wait for them to get good before that happens (unless they won the lotto and got Wall). We won't go watch streetball for free unless somebody heard an NBA player will be there. Teams charge too much money to have people go out there to see developmental talent get beat night in and night out.I doubt the arena would have been empty, you can sell fans on young exciting talent.

They got to the semis that year. Their ceiling was capped no doubt but the team went for it. They didn't realize the window would shut so quickly. They didn't foresee Kidd ditching them. Some of it is bad luck. But that kg and pierce deal![]()

You're fooling yourself if you think NYers would've packed the house to see Brook Lopez and Derrick Favors. Right or wrong, this whole thing became doomed when we didnt get John Wall and Dwight bytched out
I don't see it breh, especially since I think they would have been competitive with Lillard, he was ready from the jump.
They'd come to see ROTY Damian Lillard
This might be Mark Jackson's only shot![]()

But in doing so, you'd be forced to take a massive L in letting an all-star PG go for nothing after you traded Favors and another pick for him.
And they woulda took Barnes anyway

I'm waiting any day now for the Pelicans to trade their pick (and/or Ryan Anderson) for a Center and some rotational players. If Brooklyn wants to get ride of some salary they should try to trade Lopez and Joe Johnson to the Pelicans and see if they bite. How could they not see that this team would be ass, damn near everyone on TheColi been saying the Celtics would end up with a lottery pick since last year.
The worst part is there's no way to turn this around, their best trade asset is Lopez and who would give up a pick for him? Maybe try and get the Pelicans to bite since they have a history of idiotic moves now.

Unfortunately the only way that coulda been built is if they never moved to Brooklyn. Long term they woulda been fine but nobody can stomach a new move to an empty arena, let alone NY. Even NYCFC needed David Villa and Lampard
