I doubt the arena would have been empty, you can sell fans on young exciting talent.
Not in NY you can't. We'll wait for them to get good before that happens (unless they won the lotto and got Wall). We won't go watch streetball for free unless somebody heard an NBA player will be there. Teams charge too much money to have people go out there to see developmental talent get beat night in and night out.

You're fooling yourself if you think NYers would've packed the house to see Brook Lopez and Derrick Favors. Right or wrong, this whole thing became doomed when we didnt get John Wall and Dwight bytched out

I don't see it breh, especially since I think they would have been competitive with Lillard, he was ready from the jump.

But in doing so, you'd be forced to take a massive L in letting an all-star PG go for nothing after you traded Favors and another pick for him.

And they woulda took Barnes anyway

This whole thing with the nets is really fascinating.

Just think about it. You have the former nets owner who was trying to get a new stadium but could not. He also did not have money to put down on a new stadium.

The new stadium was also part of a larger development that the nets owner was involved in. The stadium was key to the rest of the development plan.

The owner and his partners find the Russian who will do anything to own a NBA team. The Russian agrees to over pay for the nets and agree to put down his own money to help the Nets get the stadium.

Add to the fact that before the league agreed to sell the nets to the russian the US government told the NBA that they disagreed with the selling of the nets to the russian. The US government had concerns about how the Russian got his money during the fall of Russia and that he had possible mob ties.

All of this and I didn't even get into Jay-z being brought in as a front man to help ease the situation of people being displaced in Brooklyn for the development of the stadium.

The story of the nets the last few years is a story of folks being used from the owner, to the GM and coach, to the super star rapper and all the way down to the fans and people in Brooklyn.

I never would have traded for Deron, you should know I'm not a fan of giving away first rounders, especially not unprotected ones :scust:

Had they just stayed the course they'd be better right now, without Williams they take the best PG, which was Lillard. That Kanter pick could have been Klay Thompson too :yeshrug:

:wtf: How could they not see that this team would be ass, damn near everyone on TheColi been saying the Celtics would end up with a lottery pick since last year.

The worst part is there's no way to turn this around, their best trade asset is Lopez and who would give up a pick for him? Maybe try and get the Pelicans to bite since they have a history of idiotic moves now.
I'm waiting any day now for the Pelicans to trade their pick (and/or Ryan Anderson) for a Center and some rotational players. If Brooklyn wants to get ride of some salary they should try to trade Lopez and Joe Johnson to the Pelicans and see if they bite. :ehh:

You mean if they never traded for Deron? Again, the interest needle isn't moving for a relatively unknown PG from a mid-major, Derrick Favors, and Brook Lopez. From a business standpoint they couldn't have a half empty arena after the first week of the season, not after all the fanfare they created.
