He got the job because of privilege AND his brand and his connections . Nash has built a brand for himself over the years based on some reality AND perception, too... non-white professionals need to understand branding via networking and connections and opportunities that stem from that to assume elements of the role you ultimately want are INCREDIBLY important . Nash been behind the scenes working the brass and the suits . He already had an aura assigned to him by many in the league and its affiliates for various reasons 
... and he developed relationships and made the most of the gigs he got while still building his brand .
Now if Rondo does what he’s supposed to do ... I’d expect him to get a similar HC role with superstars in place . Rondo already has had branding placed on him as being one of the smartest, highest basketball IQ guys in the league for several years . However , something tells me Rondo doesn’t care about rubbing elbows and building his brand in that respect.
What folks hollering privilege are saying is that for Nash to even be in a position to 1. Be viewed the way he is and essentially have a brand starter placed on him post retirement and for it to quickly gain traction among the shotcallers 2. To have the ACCESSIBILITY to the networks and potential connections he has 3. To get the OPPORTUNITIES he has 4. To be PERCEIVED in a highly FAVORABLE light based on that perception ... IS IN FACT PRIVILEGE .
