nikka...wtf is success to u?..in terms of being a POP star?...no..but fukkin MC Hammer has done more than ur favorite rapper so that's void....literally..the nikka has been in the game 22 fukkin years and has about 8 platinum albums and 2 gold ones...nikka is HIGHLY regarded as one of the greatest of all time and respected as a legend....the nikka is on his like 10th or 11th solo joint and the shyt is gettin grammy nominations....the nikka NEVER faded out...the nikka has one of the best OVERALL CAREERS in the rap game...nikka has been in movies..tv shows...had endorsements...made a successful documentary...co owns a successful tour...and he IS able to tour himself(I don't even know where u got that garbage)...the nikka just did Radio City Music Hall on New Years Eve...he is able to also enjoy his privacy while still being able to do what he wants...THAT's success in my eyes...u just being stubborn right about now...cause u would be hard pressed to name more than 3 rappers with the career Nas has had...

my nikka Spliz :salute:

i didnt say it was that simple, but 'it aint hard to tell' why he plays a venue like that in his hometown and nowhere else. also, i notice that you completely dodged everything else i said concerning venues.

i dont care about another man's pockets. i just threw that part in there cuz it sounded nice, to be honest.

but it doesnt take a genius to see that nas was never a major attraction and not a top guy in terms of grossing money.

who in their right mind would take nas' success over hammer's? again, youre confusing success with acclaim.

A few years of success and bankruptcy?..u would take that over success while not as high being spread over 2 decades?..really?..shortsighted as fukk if u ask me...I didnt dodge anything...I answered those questions...everyone knows nas isnt a POP star...I said that...Nas has acclaim AND is successful...shyt..Nas and Hammer came around close to the same time...which one can drop an album and still sell hundreds of thousands of records?...damn sure aint hammer..u sound ignorant right now g...

hammer's bankruptcy is neither here nor there.

theres plenty of rappers who werent POP stars that had more success than nas. the only reason why we're talking about hammer right now is because you brought him up.

hammer and nas are not from the same time period. also, hammer's run trumps nas. he grossed more money in '88-92 than nas could ever gross period. thats what its all about. you continue to throw extra chit in the mix because you go into stan mode whenever nas' name comes up. and that really dissappoints me, because youre better than that. yet im the one that sounds ignorant? nicca please.

and lets be real, nas hasnt been a factor in nearly a decade. only difference between him & other '90s rappers with diehard fanbases is that nas is good with the industry and gets his chit promoted well. so all this "hes been poppin for 22 years" stuff is :hmm:. his album titles have been more relevant than his actual albums.

Man its time for this shyt to end...like seriously..hammers success started only 3 years before Nas got on...and ended damn near the year before or year of Nas' first album...I dont give a fukk how much Hammer grossed during his run..he ended up irrelevent and BROKE...ME PERSONALLY..If im a fukkin rapper...I wanna be able to drop an album over 20 years after I got on and still get love...ANY rapper would want that...and Hammer didnt have that...shyt..look at all the money 50 made and still has yet this nikka is STILL unhappy cause his run is over...nikka u shortsighted..and u think what u think is fact...and its not true g...just cause YOU dont care about Nas...doesn't mean other people dont...there is plenty of people who go out and cop Nas' albums not cause of the title my nikka..but because he has a SOLID FANBASE...not a disposable one..which is what most of these HIGH PROFILE artists end up having and that shyt dies out after a few years...success is being able to do what Nas does after all the years he been in this shyt...and JAY-Z will even tell u that...and hes prolly the most successful rapper of all time...the nikka Nas is still sellin more than most of these new hip hop artists in the game...if THAT aint success I dont know what is...PLENTY of rappers peaked at a higher plateau during their run...but FEW have had as long of a run...I would rather be a nikka talking about WHAT IM DOING NOW in the game..vs a nikka talkin about WHAT HE USED TO DO...get it?..regardless of what u say...Nas is a young..rich..succesful black man who has the accolades to back him up as well..when hes dead and gone hes gonna be remembered as being one of the greatest to ever do this shyt...success nikka..

Edit: and also...I dont "stan" any rapper...im just keepin it 100...u think it made sense for u to say AZ>>>> Nas currently with it having no merit whatsoever?..its not like he been puttin out consistent hot shyt...u just wanted to overrate an underrated nikka..which is what u do my g...I done seen u shyt on some of the greatest artists of all time..and big up some of the worst..this aint about Nas..this is about seperating the bullshyt vs the real shyt...

you have one thing right. it is definitely time for this to end. if you cant differentiate success from greatness, then i dont know what to tell you. im done with this. maybe next time when a different rapper is involved, you'll allow yourself to see the big picture.

and you basically just repeated everything i just said in your mini-essay concerning nas' solid fanbase. i already touched on that. all you did was dress it up and make it into a fluff-piece.:hmm:

who are these great artists that i chit on? and what is your definition of chitting on something? cuz im not even chitting on nas in this thread. so yea, what its your definition homeboy?

and who are these bad rappers that i gas up? i wanna know. the floor is yours......

saying that i rather listen to one washed rapper over another washed rapper does not constitute as overrating anything. come to think of it, i only made that statement because a couple of people came in here biggin up nas.

no need to run out the thread homeboy. thats not a good look. that only works when youre talking to petty-posters. and im not one of those so it looks like youre trying to run. you threw a bunch of bs out there, now you have to deal with it.

i never said that nas didnt have success. i just pointed out how foolish you looked trying to say that only a handful of rappers were more successful than dude. then you tried to merge a bunch of other chit into the success category that doesnt even apply.

as for the other stuff, i big up everybody and i also critique everybody. is that not what a message board is for?

i didnt say that michael jackson's entire discography didnt age well. i was speaking on certain albums. and most of the people that disagreed, were people that made a mockery out of mike before he passed. now theyre suddenly fans. meanwhile, i was a REAL fan of michael jackson.

i made a thread asking why i should feel obligated to rate common so high. so what? ive bigged up common multiple times on here.

yes, i big-upped silkk the shocker. his 1st album is arguably a classic, and he arguably has a classic group album under his belt, as well as being a southern pioneer.....ive criticized him as well. even said that "charge it 2 da game" is overrated.

but people only see what they want to see, and take what they want to take from certain comments.
