He's A Good Man
S.O.S.A.
i disagree, az's rhyme scheme is part of reason why he's so bland. he's great technically but it just gives him a robotic trait on the mic. dudes like nas and tragedy aren't as technical but are way more potent.
and i wouldn't say that, life is good is a better executed streets disciple. nas was on that in 2004.
Sounds to me like he is trying out a bit of a different flow from his last few albums, based off his last few tracks. On the N4L mixtape he had some different flows as well.
Also, I don't know why you would classify all his stuff as mafioso rap. Doe or Die (and maybe Pieces of a Man) was probably the only album where he predominantly had that type of content. His last few albums have had way more observational type of content, just talking about the hood and his life in general. Kind of like Nas' Life Is Good. AZ was on that 'life is good' vibe 4 years ago already with Undeniable.
Plus AZ is one of the few rappers who are interesting to listen to even if he's on a mediocre beat, just for his technical ability alone. His multi game is simply immaculate. Probably the most consistent of all lyrical mcees.
yo that n4l tape...az had some INSANE verses on that too bad the quality was ehh and the dj was obnoxious with the runbacks. Like the beginning of the beat with az's adlibs--run it back--beginning of the beat the 4 bars of the verse--run it back--beggining, then eight bars and Im thinkin this shyt is ill then--run it back. fukk that tape.
He had an album or mixtape called legend or legendary that I didnt really play much but hes been on point lately so Im thinking he'll come through with some piff this time.
So would you say Nas is repetitive as well then?
Plus I don't really see the resemblance between his flow and rhyme scheme on this track for example and his material from DOD. (I don't think him naming this album DOD2 is an accurate reflection of his current rhyming style. As mentioned, it just seems to be a sort of trend.) He used to recycle some of the same flows a bit too much but, like I said, I think he's switching it up more now.
no, because the production and vibe of lig is way different than street's disciple.
idk, i guess we'll see when it drops. i hope he does something new.

after 18 years he can't try one new thing? not one? maybe flowing with a different tempo? maybe having some type of feeling to his tracks? maybe try a creative concept or something? or possibly let mafioso rap rest, or at least approach differently than it was done in the 90s? i mean, just for one album. lol
