this movie really exceeded expectations. I'm usually not into "Hollywood" themed movies....but cot damn.

It really hit me on a personal level; had me changing my whole day plan.

Amazing performances. I loved how they intertwined the past and the present. really cool scenes.

One of those movies were I can see what they were going for and the execution of it is hit or miss. How much you sacrifice for your craft and the dread of asking yourself if all of it was actually worth it is always a good premise in my book.

I'm not sure how to feel about the whole "being a movie star can be so tough" angle because at points it seemed they were being satirical about it and at others it felt like they were actually seriously about it.

I really liked the ending though, thought it elevated the whole introspective journey, even if it felt clunky in various parts.

i want Sandler to eventually get award recognition, but i don't think this was all that impressive. the scenes with Laura Dern were really bad. the dialogue on the train felt like he handed the script off to someone who had never written characters before. and him calling Clooney "puppy" was driving me crazy. it may have been "papi," but i think it was "puppy." either way it was stupid.

Clooney is a charming motherfukker though

Laura Dern's character was completely useless, you could take her out of the movie and literally nothing changes :dead:

And yeah, Sandler was calling him "puppy", not papi :dame: (I watched with english subs).
