I rock with East, but I don't think he will blow up. He doesn't really have charisma. All the charismatic young NYC rappers don't have any guidance. NYC doesn't have the Irv Gotti, Dame Dash, and Diddy types to help create a scene and movement. Yams was the last of that type, but even when he was alive he was often too damn high and disorganized to be as effective as the aforementioned dudes.

Dave East dope but he from NY so nikkas on here gonna act like he the worst shyt they ever heard.

Was thinking the same thing fam. I think he's nice & has potential, but dudes here are so insecure about their region falling off they hate anything that don't sound like what they know.

this dude lacks the talent to even be worthy of an Irv or Dame or Diddy

I disagree East is talented and his style embodies uptown cats between the ages of 26-30, but it's sort of a niche product and so he won't blow up. As opposed to Bobby/GS9 who embodied a wider range of NYC.

He has potential, but I haven't heard any tracks that really stuck out so far :francis:

This.

I've been listening to dude for a few years, and the music hasn't really evolved into anything I'm not hearing from a hundred other MC's. A lot of dudes are dope, but you need more than that to stand above the rest. With Hip Hop being so crowded these days, cats gotta have more to offer. Problem is, everyone sounds the same. I think that's my issue with East. I dig his music, but it doesn't sound any different from the other NY mixtape cats that I fukk with.
