Brooklyn's Son created this forum FOR US. I left KTT to stay away from cacs. I left reddit because it's too caccified. Whites can stay, but their influence must be limited.

Im not caping for anything but common sense breh..this is supposed to be a place where people exchange ideas and learn from each other..the idea that someones views are worth less because they are white is patently false
But whats actually worse is if you really are black should know what it feels like to be marginalized..the opposite of racism is not counter racism and you dont regain your pride by stepping on someone else

I think disparagement should be permitted but slurs should not.

There's a fine line between disparaging and "different opinion". It's been my experience that there's a large sentiment of HL that just doesn't like differing opinions and they do their best to paint them as "racism".

Being uniformed and being racist are not the same thing.

1. I've been a member of thecoli almost since it was created, and I go on HL fairly regularly. I don't have any personal beef with HL posters (even the ones I think are dumb). I'll be very proactive about cutting down on redundant posting as well as posters who spam the board---that includes people not named Napoleon, who has actually been behaving himself since the election.

2. I'd like HL to find more ways to recognize and reward quality posting. Occasionally, someone takes the time to write a long, quality post where they go into an issue in-depth. Those kinds of posts should be rewarded and acknowledged. Maybe a "post of the week/month/whatever" that gets stickied for everyone's edification. I think that's ultimately the best way to improve the quality of the posts on here; reward good posting, don't just shyt on bad posting.

3. I will keep a very open mind as far as diversity of opinion and civility, but there will be a strict limit on topics which are irrelevant to the purpose of HL. We will not be hosting 50+ page threads where one guy argues with a Black Hebrew Israelite about whether someone is an Edomite.

4. I'd also like to encourage some fun themed posting. Like maybe on a certain weekday, we'll have a "topic of the day" that everyone can try and post about.

5. More help with professional development. Someone brought up that HL is too restricted to politics and we need more stuff on arts, sciences, etc.. I completely agree. But I would go a step further and say that we could use more threads specifically on professional development. There are a few dedicated threads to the stock market and law school. I think we need to see more threads like that---threads dedicated to just learning stuff to improving your career and quality of life. I think that would help us attract reasonable posters from other subforums who are interested in career discussions.

HOw else is someone supposed to learn if they can't discuss.

I literally had this conversation with a very wealthy (we're talking OLD, OLD money) dude I went to high school with. He's extremely liberal by the way.

There are a lot of people out there that have never had conversations with minorities. I mean real conversations, not just work banter or pleasantries, but real conversations. Any stifling of communication is counter productive. I know there are people out there who legitimately don't understand the plight of minorities or the poor and they want to, but they can't out of fear of having their heads ripped off. Part of education and growing is being able to ask questions, discuss and EXCHANGE ideas.

Part of the reason we can't do this as either a board or a country is that people get so defensive, both left and right, to the point of not even hearing the other person's words. I see this all day on this board and on my FB feed and the news, etc, etc.

ALL that being said, there's a contingent of people who have no desire to exchange ideas, they are a destructive force who seek only to cause strife and mayhem. They are intellectual (and possibly actual) terrorists. The challenge in dealing with them is how do you weed them from people who don't know what they don' know.

First and foremost I'd like to thank you all for my nomination.

I'll be straight forward and blunt about my prospective year as the mod of HL - authoritarianism.

I don't get into back and forths and very rarely do I go on posting tirades. My modship will follow the same format.

1. Spam posts of twitter links will equal a thread ban. Three thread bans and you're suspended from HL for 30 days. Non-negotiable so suck my dikk.
2. The number of created threads will be monitored intensely. No longer will you be allowed to throw shyt at the wall and hope it sticks.
3. Hot button issues will be stickied weekly; breaking news issues stickied daily.
4. Active marketing of HL to female posters.
5. Monthly debate contests (team or individual) with dap/rep/coli cash prizes or ban bets.

Friends and fellow HL countrymen...I shall make no promises of candy from the sky and making this into some kind of safe space for everyone who agrees with you..nobody will get banned for sonning you viciously..indeed if done well they may even get rewarded

What wont be tolerated is racism,anti semitism and personal exposes ....a little back and forth in a battle of wit is fine.... splendid even.... theres nothing wrong with being passionate about your beliefs...

but 3 pages of people airing out their feelings ,cac gon cac and your mama jokes is unsuited to HL....that nonsense will get bushed ASAP

I promise you more disagreement ,more argument ,more rigorous debate and a deluge of information like never seen before...more science,more philosophy,more art ...more intelligence

for far too long we have tolerated this place being turned into a TLR clone...feelings and imagination have supplanted facts and logic...grown men getting hurt because someone disagrees with them
