Nope. In fact I can literally recommend a few clinics in BK, one that I attend regularly. And they would never tell you that acupuncture can fix a herniated disc.

What it CAN do is lower inflammation in the area, and reduce the pain as a result of the herniated disc, which in turn accelerates the healing process.

But a herniated disc is a herniated disc....it's more than just removing the symptoms that come as a result, you would need to do exercises and other things that will strengthen your back like maybe physical therapy or something of that nature.

So how do you recommend something that you claim doesn't work?

I got married at 26, Madea. Perfect age, not too young, not too old. You got married at 36 because your stupid ass shacked up with a chick because you were lonely, ugly, desperate and couldn't get by on your marginal salary at the Best Buy geek squad, and you followed in your father's footsteps by forgetting to pull out.

You are such ass lame ass cornball that YOU trapped HER with a baby. :deadmanny: I guess you knew your options at propagating your socially-rejected DNA were evaporating faster than your hairline, ol keep a bytch baby ass nikka.

You the type a nikka to go stalking around a bowling alley on a Friday night by yourself trying to pick up high school girls. And you are literally 36 in a karate class. You look like a broke 65 year old church deacon who collects train sets and molests little boys, you ugly hunchbacked lame ass tae bo hoe.

My dog slipped one of her discs in her back and caused so much inflammation to the spinal cord that it made her paralyzed for her back legs and tail, with no ability to control her bowels. Steroids and anti-inflammatories weren't working, so specialist recommended acupuncture. She didn't like being up on the acupuncture table, but after we started that treatment, her tail started moving. After the next, she could take a few steps with her back legs. She responded well to it, so we kept on going and now she isn't paralyzed anymore.

Placebo effect can't be applied to dogs.

Or maybe the paralysis was just temporary. Over time the symptons your dog had would have naturally improved as with most injuries. That what bodies do.

Possible however given that they had the time to try other treatments that were unsuccessful highly unlikely. The evidence is abundant that acupuncture is great for nerve problems.

Actually, most dogs with this hereditary disc disorder don't see much change after the first month, so if they don't regain feeling by then the paralysis likely becomes permanent. We tried steroids and pain relievers for a long time, which wrecked her stomach but didn't improve the paralysis. She was 10 years old and recovery didn't seem likely. Acupuncture was a last ditch effort before wheelchairs and permanent incontinence, and was recommended by the specialist.

I don't believe it can cure any and all issues, but it certainly helped my little one with hers.

Even as a Chinese dude I've always been a little sceptical, but if it works as a placebo, then it works. As long as westerners keep paying us :moshaq:

This is some great empirical evidence

Nevermind the generations of cultures benefitting from such pseudoscientific hogwash.

Their studies were clearly biased as they werent consuming chemical concoctions with severe side effects designed to battle deadly cell mutations brought on by ingesting a food-chain riddled with pesticides, inhaling metallic and carcinogenic waste, consuming gallons of medicated water and living in a rapidly increasing radiation pool.
:troll:

In all seriousness, whats the point of this article? People are getting better through the power of their own mind right? Is this a bad thing? Do we need to stamp it out in order to free the space for another new addictive medication which provides more side effects than relief?

Wouldn't it be better to attempt to harness this long known notion that pain and anxiety is based mostly on perception. I mean the people are getting BETTER with NO liver eroding medication. Only in america could this be seen as bad lol

if it were not for scientists explaining the placebo effect, fewer people would know that their mind played a part in their own healing. now that people know that the mind might be a factor, people can explore that more seriously without clinging to ancient nonsense.

Its actually the ones spouting ancient nonsense who made large sections of the world aware of the link between MIND, BODY and soul. Its only recently been 'discovered' by your science gods that above 80% of the immune system is located in the gut. This has long been common knowledge for these dumb ancients who were pretty spot on about math, architecture, language, biology, chemistry, physics and astronomy among other things that our parasitic way of life depends on. If we spent less time trying to disprove and destroy their millennia of collected knowledge to then come to the same conclusions in different terminology, we would probably light years ahead of where we are. But anyone who thinks the western model is discovery for the good of the people, and not discovery in the name of profit is pretty retarded anyway
