i only came in here to educate you for the 1,232,464th time when it comes to alternative medicine, but i saw the good people of HL already did that.
ive seen TOO many first hand accounts that praise the benefits of acupuncture, so im not reading your article because 1) time is money and 2) im positive your article is

since most of the shyt you post is

especially when dealing with subjects i know you havent researched.
I guess you don't seem to understand what medicine is, and what clinical studies and the scientific method is. You should actually read the articles I posted, particularly the second one, because they are objective summaries of the existing medical data on acupuncture based on 3,000 clinical studies over about 40 years.
Saying you're not going to read comprehensive compilations and summaries of the efficacy of acupuncture based on thousands of trials and decades of empirical evidence because you've already pre-judged the results (which may surprise you) is the height of complete ignorance, idiocy, and intellectual bankruptcy, and indicative of why you are the village idiot of Higher Learning.
think about this... trainers for professional sports franchises sometimes recommend acupuncture to their athletes for various ailments. now, do you think these franchises who employ the most qualified health professionals in their field, and who have access to the most modern medical services available, and who have hundreds of millions of dollars invested in these athletes is going to risk these athletes future with an unproven or ineffective medical practice?
and thats just one example. there are way more people acupuncture has worked for, than not worked for, as further demonstrated by the responses in this thread.
Well you have to actually read clinical data before you make judgments. What's hilarious is you don't even know my position on the matter. My position is, unlike you, I'm logical and fully capable of critical thinking, and don't latch on the bullshyt I'm spoonfed from naturalnews.com or tinfoilhatwearingyoutubephdsmartdumbnikka.com or wherever you get your nonsense from, so therefore I simply take the data from the meta-analyses of the clinical studies for what they are.
From what I see, the data on acupuncture indicates that it may provide a marginal benefit for some ailments but is overall inconclusive (the mechanism proposed behind it about "qi" and "meridians" is obviously pseudoscience). There does seem to be a modest, small benefit in terms of temporary relief, for back pain in particular. However, that benefit could be due to a placebo effect. It's very difficult to tell because it's hard to do a double-blind trial on acupuncture. How exactly do you perform the dummy treatment when you are sticking needles in someone? The mechanism of how acupuncture "works" if it does, is undetermined. It's suggested that it could work by the needles releasing endorphins, which help with pain relief. If that is the case, then the dummy treatment, which would have to involve the sticking of needles to be believable to the patient, could serve the role of real treatment somewhat.
But there is some modest evidence that acupuncture works better than nothing. That's why it's more accepted in medicine than crystal and magnet healing and all that other bullshyt you naively swallow.
If you weren't in such aggressive binary-thinking mode, you would actually be able to have a reasonable unemotional exchange...maybe.
Regarding the athlete example, that's irrelevant because what trainers do use acupuncture obviously use it in concert with a lot of other healing practices, so it's not like their reputation is staked on acupuncture. If Peyton Manning has a deep tissue bruise, maybe he has a trainer that recommends acupuncture, but it would be along with a number of other treatments. It's a small minority of trainers who do it, so that tell you all you need to know about the overall general opinion on the matter. Some trainers and doctors do find it to be worthwhile of course along with other treatments and some athletes do as well. There's nothing wrong with that.
you created this thread thinking you and the
psuedo-skeptic coalition were going to have yet another HL circle jerk where you all blah blah and dap each other's post, but the people of HL shut that down with the quickness.
thread fail
and you're still a b*tch ass n*gga with man crushes
lol...it's funny how mad you get at me poking fun at your goofy ass magical, conspiratorial belief system. It's not like I even personally diss you...I just diss the bullshyt you believe in. I guess you don't have much else to give your life meaning and yourself definition.
You been mad as fukk lately. Dafunkdoc must've really did a number on you with that ether.
