threw in about 168k a couple months ago. went up to 170, now it's at 166. im in it for the 30 year haul unless i sell some of these mutual funds for a down payment

i think im mostly gonna let it sit in my .015 expense index fund, is that the way to go? they say some mutual funds beat the market to offset the extra percent, but in the long run none of them do

No one ever wants to think about it but if you made a dollar in the market then somebody lost a dollar. It's all in the game which is why research is important.

I'm not the guy to ask about mutual funds. I think they're a robbery. Index funds are better at beating the market with fewer fees. Beating the market is a tricky term because it's a never ending race so at a point in time(s) it could be beating the market but how long will it last is the question.

I understand that it's POSSIBLE to turn 4K into 15K, but it is UNLIKELY. Which is what I said in my post. I'm not going to recommend a 19 year old invest their savings into anything risky enough to possibly get those returns, at least without them educating themselves on investing first.

Could it even be said it's unlikely? It's probably just as likely to happen as it is not to happen. He could make an earnings play next week and have it happen. The things you have to do to get that kind of return are pure gambling if you don't have insider info. If he's willing to risk it all it could very well happen but it's probably just as likely not to happen.

Maybe, but that's not the point.

The best investment advice someone could give to a 19 year old is to play the time game.

@OrdaineD

Code is done. It was good for a whole year and only a handful of people took advantage of it. It was only supposed to be for a month they gave me an extension off the strength of friendship.

What kind of ETF?

Paper Trading Account is only going to delay the inevitable. If you're in the stock market you're eventually going to lose money. You will make money, but you will lose some money. Nobody wins all the time, not even Buffet. Unless you're in a paper Trading competition just focus on a real account and real money. You will take a real account with $10 way more serious than you'd take a fake one with $1000

The newsletter is worth the money. It's all the research done for you and all the guesswork taken out of a handful of stocks. They still have a success rate in the 80% range too.

Lol damn, I'm just seeing this thread for the first time trying to get my feet wet and missed the code by a few weeks lol

My mom has a stockbroker, but I’m interested in getting into stocks so I could handle them on my own. Any quick tips to share? I’ll go through this thread in time.
I know theres a thread in higher learning on stocks. dont go in there too often but that might be better for info.

I know most of it got lost in the shuffle and all the questions in here but this thread was created originally to bless the coli with hook up that I decided to pass on. Not too many people took advantage of it so I can't ask these brothers keep giving this discount especially with them getting looks from big money on Wall Street telling them that they should charge way more with their success rate of picks. With that said, the promo code will expire at the end of the month.

The newsletter is normally 24.99 a month but if you enter the coupon code "THECOLI" you get 50% off. Easily the best $12.50 you will spend all year.

Once again, the code for 50% off is "THECOLI"

I got interested in stocks too late. :wow:

exorbitant legal fees
I have 10k on deck for investments. 2nd quarter reports are coming out which I understand are going to be devastating. Airline stocks like Delta, United, and Southwest are dirt cheap. I know Warren Buffet just dropped all his airlIne investments so :lupe:

Does anyone know if there any free websites or reddit threads that give good suggestions on what stocks to pick?

If you're relying on free websites and Reddit to tell you what stocks to pick, you shouldn't be picking stocks at all. You should be buying index funds.

I made $50 today on DraftKings stock listening to the coli ,r/investing, and r/stocks.

I don’t have thousands of dollars to invest right now for index funds. I just started working in March.

I’m just looking to make $10+ a day passively and keep reinvesting. I know theres some secret forums/websites out there that are good at predicting lowkey stocks to invest in.
