Did you watch the video he literally says that the switch 2 is not hacked. Not saying it won’t be but I think it will be a minute before we see switch 2 games on pc.
The Xbox Ally systems don't come out til this winter, I'm confident they'll get there by then or not too long afterwards
So in the context of this threads topic, I'm not wrong unless all emulation is non-existent for a number of years

Do you believe that will be the case tho? You sure Breh Bruhkowski? That's a BOLD stance, bolder than my hot take :whew:

Question for the knowledgeable folks.....

Which of these handhelds should I get:

Ally
Ally X
Xbox versions of Ally/Ally X
Steam Deck
Other

I got PS5 and Series X, PS+ and GamePass.

I'd mostly play these either at home or maybe at a hotel/Air BnB when traveling. Which one allows me to play big time AAA games with strong graphics, performance etc?

Thought about a gaming PC but not really interested in going that route.

I have both PS5 and Xbox Series X and I'm thinking Steam Deck. You'll have access to PC games, but still able to stream PS5/XS.

A steak deck completes the trifecta

Keep in mind the OS differences when buying a handheld PC.

You'll be able to play shyt like Warzone and other big multiplayer experiences on the ROG Ally systems or Lenovo Go systems because they're based on Windows, but only a limited selection on the Steam Deck because of the Linux based SteamOS not cooperating well with most anti-cheat software. If you only play single-player and indie games, then this doesn't matter as much.

You can get remote play, multiple launchers, emulation, and Game Pass working on all handheld PCs. So there's no point in a dedicated Remote Play device.

With all that said, its best to go with the strongest hardware, like with most tech.

Yeah but you got to take into account the battery life for whatever system you get too. What use is 2 hours of gameplay?

I think you clearly missed the term "evolution". I own a Steam Deck and a Switch 1, I'm familiar with them. The biggest limitations to both, are storage despite having access to expandable storage.

I also own a Portal and until I recently downgraded my Premium subscription, I was actively using the cloud streaming beta in hotels and over Mifi connections (plane wifi is a satellite connection, too much latency to do anything). The device is cheap, well built and focuses on all the components necessary for a gaming experience. Its limitation is network connectivity but again, that is a handheld/mobile gaming issue in general despite some offline functionality.

Yeah but me and many others have been in hotels with bad wifi. I'd rather not take the chances.

Summary of the first part about the Ally Xbox:

*They are a bit sceptic about what people invested in Xbox will think about not being able to play their purchased Xbox Series games on this device.

*John Linneman has been playing a lot of Switch 2's 7'9 inch screen and is worried about going to a 7 inch screen size.

*They are looking forward to big picture mode and they hope the launchers are good.

Leadbetter:
*Steam Deck came out in early 2022, and here we are in the year of our lord 2025 with a device that has practically the same SOC. Thats really bad. Thats not great. So I can only assume that they are going to put that out with a very keen price point.

Price thoughts:
Ally non X version could be competitively priced (he thinks).

The Ally X though. Not so much (he thinks).

Top end silicone from AMD. 24 gigs of memory. 1 TB ssd. It says to me that will be quite expensive unless Microsoft can use its purchasing power to get a sweet heart deal with AMD on that top end silicone. He doesn't know whos responsible for supply line. MS or ASUS.

How expensive? 800 dollar handheld thats an Xbox is not going to go down so well.

Olivers thoughts on price:

"Not going to go down very well. When you talk about points of comparisons.

Steam Deck and different incarnations start at 400 USD to 550 with various OLED models.

The Switch 2 is another key point of comparison. That comes in at 450 USD, that in a lot of respects. I was playing hogwarts on the S2. And the version on S2 runs a heck of a lot better than Windows based handheld versions."

Alex thinks its a little to late. Feels anemic but if they market it well and a competitive price it could go down well. But he's sceptical.

Battery life is pretty bad on any handheld PC. And yeah, you're only getting a couple hours of life if you play something AAA.

Absolutely need a power bank if you plan on playing for long hours like a flight.
