Steeler players were lobbying for Maddox over Ben at one point too.

:heh: this never happened. after ben became the starter they won 14 consecutive games. maddox was garbage the year before.

:usure:

Co-captain Alan Faneca sounded less than thrilled when he discussed the prospect of a rookie leading the charge against the Dolphins.

"Exciting?" Faneca replied to a question with disbelief in his voice, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. "No, it's not exciting. Do you want to go work with some little young kid who's just out of college?

"Everybody's got to do a little more," the All-Pro offensive guard told the newspaper. "Everybody's got to help out, got to do a little more, do a little extra, take that extra step, put the extra work in this week and rally around him and help out.

Ive figured youre not as stupid as to mistake skepticism of starting a rookie when maddox was injured, for actually lobbying maddox over big ben after big ben started.

Ive figured you understand what 'lobbying qb a over qb b' means, ie team actually having a choice between who starts.

I guess I was wrong.

Lol, you're a jackass. A paragraph trying to cover your ass when a simple "I stand corrected"would have sufficed.

The point of this discussion was training camp and comparing a known shytty QB to a rookie, and veteran players backing the vet QB, ie not wanting a training camp competition.

Some slight optimism/positivity....Football Outsiders 2013 Almanac was just released:

2012 offense was historically bad.
Mark Sanchez was historically bad and his career arc is basically a spitting image of Joey Harrington's
Greene was awful and is gone.
Offensive line is still a top 10 unit- turnvoers sacks were on Sanchez way more so than the line
If Sanchez actually plays- impossible for him to be as bad as last season.
Geno's ceiling is Tony Romo in their opinion
Impossible for the offense to be as bad as last season

Wilkerson is a borderline superstar
Cromarties 2012 was an historically good season for a CB.
Only one better in recent years was Revis in 2009.
Cromartie has been a better player than Revis since mid 2011
Love the Richardson pick

The right bounces and improvement from the QB position- they dont see 10 wins as unobtainable.

lol this is why you cant take a lot of those outsider people seriously

why? they chart every play. Marshall and Johnson had his number in '11, plus he battled the knee injury. Revis also didnt play last season. When you add in the contracts, honestly, its really a no brainer.

Which Johnson?

Cause Revis Shut down both Andre and Calvin in 11

Stevie Johnson the only dude who got a few catches on Revis, Something like 5 for 50 but we dominated the Bills. Cromartie got embarrassed by Stevie Johnson last year

Stop Talking bout Revis :to:

I miss him no homo, thats my former HOF Shutdown Cornerback

revis shut down Megatron and Andre in 2010. I meant Stevie Johnson.

Dont recall Cro getting dominated by Stevie last year. In the blowout in game 1 or the scrimmage in week 17?

Marshall did nothing against Revis.

He had a pick six for a 98 yard TD stopping Marshall

Counter:
2013 offense lost pieces, and didn't really replace them anywhere except RB.'
Fez more or less was in line with what he's done all his career. The decline in his play was gradual in some ways, consistent in some other aspects
Ivory/Goodson SHOULD be an upgrade. SHOULD. If the Jets are playing from behind, they may not have much more impact than Greene did.
The O-Line is better than people give it credit, and they're right in that Fez caused many of those turnovers (and with Colon/Peterman/Winters, better guards). The biggest liability on that line is D'Brick and has been since Wayne's been gone.
If Fez plays, even a marginally better Fez is a bottom 5 QB.
If Geno plays, then Fez was historically bad again, because Fez will have a long leash.
The offense can be every bit as bad because the infusion of talent isn't there. The most talented playmaker is Holmes and he's PUP.

Wilkerson =beast
Cro played very well. That said, any mention of Cro being better than Revis since 2011 even though the first CB people wanted gone was Cro is laughable (and I wanted Cro back, still glad he's here, but if they had dealt Cro and found a way to keep Revis, no one would be saying this)
At best, you can say the same issue with the CB's remains unless MIlliner turns out to be Revis-lite.

The sign of optimism is really hoping that Idzik is able to find bums off the street and make them into serviceable players, something the Jets have done worse than any other team in the NFL. The team simply can't sustain a decent window of winning if they need a first or 2nd rounder at virtually every position.
