Gamble has some ties with Ryan. He worked with his father Buddy in Philly.I don't think he'd have a problem working with Rex.

Even if he did though he (or any other candidate) would be better to keep Rex for 2013.

Any GM candidate is going to inquire as to the current state of the team, meaning salary cap situations, pending free agents and salaries on the books.

Gamble, or any of the other candidates can look at all the information made available by Woody's staff and all them would come to the conclusion that 2013 will be a limited opportunity to turn over the roster. It also doesn't take a PHD to realize that some very bad contracts will be off the books March 1, 2014 giving the Jets a TON of cap space.

That is why you keep Rex as HC for 1 more year because the new HC will have a better situation in 2014 than if he came here in 2013 in a serious rebuilding year and be tainted by that year.

I agree...but I also think it would be unfair for an incoming GM to be forced to keep Rex if they don't want him here. So at the most, Rex has one year left and we're going to suck next year regardless of whose in because of cap issues. So we might as well keep him and prepare for a new coach in 2014 unless Rex fosters some miracle out of next season which allows him to keep his job in 2014. But I want to start a "suck for Clowney" sweepstakes.

I understand. But I'm just saying that you can't expect much next year due to the situations. It would be better for Rex to be the fall guy instead of putting pressure on a new coach for his 2nd season.

And if anything, we should be starting a "suck for Bridgewater campaign".

I know that hence why I wanted both Tannenbaum and Rex fired...

Any competent owner would have canned them both...

There wasn't a move Tannenbaum made that didn't go through Rex...

Adam Schein has a great article about Rex's influence over Tannenbaum on NFL.com.

Rex was pulling the strings on the majority of the personnel moves. He told
Schein he was the main guy who wanted Sporano because "I want someone who is a mirror image of me".

Pathetic

Here's the article

Where's Rex Ryan? I've learned that Jets head coach left town this morning as team ponders next move
